No, dont get cocky with them, you may find that your tyres are just out of legal depth or some such. Tell him to be friendly if there is a next time and just say to them, why is it I get pulled over so often. May be they can give him a sticker or something :)

Why is it on all the tv shows it's normally the police that appear to picking the fight, they always start out antagonistic, are they acting hard for the camera, or are they all like that now.

With he abuse they get on a daily basis just for doing there job, it mildy annoys but does not surprise me how some of them come across.... If you get abuse from everyone you stop, eventually your going to alter your persona to suit.

But why give them absuse? they are just doing their job, and if you have nothing to hide then whats the problem?

If you are going to be late for work etc as a result you can request a form detailing that you have been stopped so your work shouldn't worry about it too much...

Mikey, they are hardened to that and expect it every time. :(

They also expect the driver to be on planet Zoic from whatever substance, tends to raise the defences.

But, I think I have only been stopped once in the last 15 years and that was a couple of years ago, minding my own biz in the outside lane of the M1, at the speed limit, watching a patrol car scanning/following traffic. He accelarated, backed off, possibly wanting a reaction from some one. However as I passed him in lane 1, (I was in lane 3), the blues/2's came on and I was pulled out of that lane in very heavy traffic. It was an awkward pullover to say the least.

The national computer said I had no insurance, but I did have. I got sat in the back of the police car, got the good cop bad cop routine. I was flustered to be honest and for a couple of minutes couldn't recall who my insurer was, this only added to there excessive attitude.

But I did remmber. They called directline, all smart alex like. The operative wouldn't talk to them, they had to pass their radio to me to confirm security and that I was with them. The tide had turned and I went from jibberish to very annoyed.

I asked the operative if the call was being recorded as I may need to refer back to it, she confirmed it was. She also confirmed to the officer that I was indeed insured.

I will never forget the look they gave each other accross the car when they realised all was in order:mad::eek::mad::rotfl::rotfl:

What did I get from it, "oh it sometimes happens, we'd better escort back onto the carriageway as it's abit awkward here".

They got their revenge, I complained, someone called me back about it at 1;;45 AM

    :mad::mad::mad:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

All proving that if they act like hard cases, then it's no wonder they get your back up. I'm sure they expect the worse, but appear to cause it in a lot of cases.
If I was stopped, if I was treated like scum, that's how I would react, if they started polite, that's what they'll get back as well.
(I'd have put in a further complaint about the 1.45 call as well)

Yes, exactly correct. All 140,000 odd warrented officers are exactly the same as the few you see on the TV. Didn't stereotyping as badly as this go out in the 70s?

I don't know, maybe you should write to each show producer, and ask if they select the officers specially for their tv skills, or are they all the same?

I got tailed and stopped once for a dodgy brake light and once for the old ford disco lights (bad earth) on an escort. Both times I got told to fix it off my own back and sent on my way. I also had a breakdown on the 2nd from the outside lane of a 4 lane stretch on the M8 in Glasgow and 2 traffic guys towed me and managed to get me started and escorted me back to surface roads.

But the relevant time was when I had just bought a Rover and was pulled for no apparent reason. The police looked surprised it was me in the car and made some excuse about my brake lights not showing, we checked them and they were fine. I said maybe I had geared down to the junction before proceeding, but that was just a face saver for us all. I am sure the car had belonged to someone of interest to them before.
