Avoid using GAS and ELECTRIC !

Morning all
have just had my electric and gas bill from Sw@lec yesterday and they are looking like this (bearing in mind im in a 2 bedroomed, mould infested, single glazed ground floor flat and have a 4.5 year old).
They are for 3 months i should also add
£105.88 for the gas
£118.27 for the electric
so thats working out at
£1.16 a day for gas
£1.29 a day for electric
(should add though that I have terrapins who need their heat light on for a few hours each day)
so all in all i think we have done okMaking Changes To Save My LifeCurrent weightloss - 2lbs (week 1)0 -
Looks like you and I get very similar fuel bills them SK
Over the last 12 weeks my electricity has averaged £1.16/day, and my gas has averaged £1.19/day.
These are including VAT, but not the IGT on the gas which adds on a further 11p/day, and is also before my dual fuel and on-line discounts -- so are the variable costs that I can control !!
I accept that I'm in a larger property (4 bed detached) and with DS being 17 he probably uses considerably more electricity than your cheeky chimp does -- but it's also a modern house with good insulation and double glazing, so it seems to balance out in the grand scheme of things.
The lady I spoke to at my provider the other day was shocked at how little I'm using (said my use is about a quarter of hers!), so I would say your figures are looking good :TCheryl0 -
My free electricity monitor arrived last Friday and what a great little gadget it is. We straight away went around switching everything off that was not needed and watched it come down. Its keeping us aware at all times what we could be saving. We bought a halogen oven from Asda as both top and fan ovens use a lot of electricity but good news, electric blanket uses very little. Tumble drier will be used very little now and ovens not at all. We can afford to pay our bills but hate energy companies ripping us off. Would rather spend our cash on a nice holday.;)0

In a 3 month period we spend £360 on coal and £100 on elect.0

My figures don't look too bad then - for a 1 bed, mostly double glazed flat - gas/elecy both work out to 66p per day - mind you I do work full time. The only thing left switched on when I'm out is the fridge/freezer. Even unplug the digital alarm clock - well who's gonna need the time when there's no one home!
Hope your roof survived the gales Mardatha !:eek:When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

I did it, I did it - with all the help and tips received on OS threads - Gas/Electric bill came today £107.26 - same quarter last year was £123.28, plus there was the 40% price rise - yaaaaaaay
Thanks everybody :T :T :T :beer:When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

I cook things on the top of the wood burning stove and heat water in a kettle. I also cook potaatoes and sausages in the ash-pan. wrapped in tin foil, they do very well."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

Well done pagan girl that is a success, especially with the price hike. I keep trying to get mine down but it doesn't seem to make much difference. Think i'll just need to pray for good weather!:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

Congratulations pagan girl. Looks like your thick sweaters or thermals have paid for themselves. You've done well to reduce your costs, especially when the price of fuel has gone up and we've had some really chilly periods.0
