                my bf thinks im bad enough being 24, walking around in cosy toes, with a fleece, hot water bottle and whinging about the price of living. Think that would really push him over the edge.

Had a bit of news yesterday - after getting my bills i realised they were estimates so checked them adn rung up Sw@lec - turns out I owe £7.88 on my gas but they had overcharged me by £20 on my electric - so i owe them £82. So now have my gas paymetns a month at £50 and my electric at £30. Figure if i keep gas the same I'll end up in credit with it as I pay quarterly so in 3 months time there will be - £142.12 on it so that should cover the next lot of gas plus the heating hasnt been on yet so no need to worry yet even in november it will be on the odd blast for little one coming home and bf going to work which is 6 - 7am (so warm when small person and bf wake up), and then if weather is rubbish on between 3 - 4pm just so he comes hoem to a warm house. Hoping I wont even need it for that but we will see - not until november
Time to find me again

Ohmygosh, it is cold today - I'm right down on the south coast so I am thinking of you all further up the country, it must be freezing!

Kids are all kitted out in their fleece tops, layers and socks and we are going to snuggle up under a blanket and put a DVD on the laptop in a moment....they think it is some kind of adventure and are really excited!!

I notised that when I put my lamp on in the living room last night , it gives out a lovely golden glow to the room and made it look warm ( if that makes sence?),,, mind over matter it seems  .

I had to put the heating for a couple of hours today - when I woke up, the bedroom was about 18c, and I really felt the chill when I went downstairs.:eek:

The butter that I forgot to put away after shopping yesterday was still rock solid when I came across it at 11.15... however, I'm not really feeling the cold as I've got so much to do. I will probably put the heating on occasionally if I'm doing things that involve sitting for long periods of time, but don't yet need it if I'm busy.

I have noticed that the hot water needs longer now - it was on 10 minutes am, 20 minutes pm, but I think its going to need another 10 minutes at each end of the day.

Although its not sunny here, it is windy, so hopefully anyone with laundry to do will be able to get it dry.

Sorry to disagree Ceridwen, but I am carrying an extra pound (or 20!!) and am always cold - even in August!! Have always been a cold mortal, even been known to resort to hoovering as a way to warm up... (dire, I know!)
My hubby is slim and is always warm - we frequently follow each other around, opening / closing windows. He likes to have a window open in the bedroom at night, so I can be found wearing my sexy woolly hat in bed - I figure it will deter any would be burglars........!!!!!:D

When we eventually light the woodburner hubby sees it as a challenge to actually warm me up - backfires though, as before I am down to only one blanket over me (!) he is down to his pants......:rotfl:

Thank you, This thread is wonderful - please keep up the good work.

Well...guess tis the exception proving the rule....:D Howsomever - if you are even feeling the cold in August...have you mentioned this to the doctor? I am just wondering as I have a couple of friends with thyroid problems and I think this could (maybe?) affect how warm one feels...Well...'tis worth checking out to see if there is a "cause" - rather than just thinking "one of those things...its just the way I myself am I suppose" - it may not be.

The only problem I'm experiencing is finding a "warm" place to leave my bread to rise - I've tried to time bread-making with slow-cooker batch cooking and leaving the dough next to the slow cooker for a bit of warmth! Any other suggestions?!

Debbie. x

Hi Debbie, re the bread, I put my oven on the lowest setting for 5 minutes, then turn off, I then put my bread in the oven to rise, it stays in there for about 3 hours and is plenty warm enough to make the bread rise, I dont think turning it on for 5 minutes will cost much and the bread rises brilliantly! I also do this in the afternoon so that when I have cooked in the evening, the bread goes in after and the oven doesn't need to be preheated.
