problem is I'm doing a lot more cooking from scratch these days (over the past 2 years really), but no-one in the house can carve a beef, pork or gammon joint to save their lives -- and as for slicing HM bread so it'll go into the toaster without burning thinner parts of a slice :rolleyes2

I'm down south and there's no electric slicer listed either. I can't carve gammon joints with a normal knife. But have one of those electric carving knives - lovely nice neat slices with that (but still some are a bit on the wonky side ;)).
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • butter the bread before you slice it and then hold the loaf under your arm to slice. That is the os way.

you've not seen me and knives..... and I don't want to butter first if toasting it either ;)

don't think hubby could even attempt to hold/slice that way though (health issues), and wouldn't want my teenage son trying it as he's almost as bad as me :

I love browsing the Lehman's site! They do ship internationally... probably very expensive, though.
I want to move to theory. Everything works in theory.

My electric slicer is one of the few things I'd replace straight away if it broke. We could never slice bread or meat properly until I got one, you can also stretch things a bit further if it's sliced properly. We had a joint of pork on Sunday, I cut thick slices for lunch and then thinly sliced the rest for sandwiches.

You've made me chuckle Dave :p ..bit like those "Things to make you go ummm" on Brainiacs..bestist bit for me :D

Was it here we were talking about teapots & cosies, & someone asked where to get said cosy...because Wilkos have some really nice ones for around a fiver that are not too "olde worlde" & usually have matching oven gloves at least.

Have to say the evenings especially are getting a wee bit fresh, but then tis only me thinking that way apparently--the offspring haven't said anything so perhaps my 'hayfever' is the start of a cold after all :o Barse duh 'unnie bleeze...I'll put da keddul on fo zum 'ot blag-errent *snnnnifff*
