Shave your head too and then jump out at him yelling "Surprise! It's GI Jane" - on the other hand No, you would then have to buy a matching hat!!

Many years ago I had a grown up baby-gro. It had little poppers at the back so you could go to the loo. I don't think it had the feet bits though. Shame I didn't keep it.

Hi there, i wonder if anyone can help and I hope this is the right thread for my question....:o

I'm considering trying to use terry nappies when my baby comes in March. The costs seem clearly in favour of them, unless I factor in the costs of doing the washing!:D

My mate reckons there are websites which will help me to work out how much it costs me to do a load of washing, but I can't find any! Can anyone help?

    Ta muchly...

    Hi Weezl,
do you have the booklet that came with your washing machine?
All the information that i needed was in mine. The manufacturer (aeg) put in the number of minutes that each program lasted and the kwh used so armed with my suppliers prices i worked out the cost of each program

Ok just had a huuuuuuge shock. Got the water bill in the other day, and the electricity bill in this morning.

Water for the past 6 months - £1100 (we're on a water meter)

Electricity for the last QUARTER - £600

We live next door to my parents and because it was originally one big house that has been split into two, the bills are for BOTH, as they're not officially (on paper) split into two separate residences.

We have to have water to fill the trough in the field for the animals, and likewise they have to have water overnight. Those are the things that we CAN'T cut back on.

However, we've realised that there are lots of things that we CAN cut back on!

    * boil the kettle once in the morning, and fill a flask with coffee or tea to save keep boiling the kettle all day

    * while waiting for the hot water to come through the tap, put the cold water into saucepans to use later on for potatoes, pasta, soup, watering plants, filling the dog's water bowl etc

    * turn off every single light that isn't being made use of

    * do economy washes in washing machine

    * hang clothes on radiators (although not switched on, they'll still dry i'm sure), or over bannisters etc to dry rather than use the tumble drier all the time (something i'm VERY guilty of!) :o AND buy a cheap clothes horse!!!

    * as bulbs blow, replace with energy bulbs (already have 3 in place)

I'm also going to read through this thread thoroughly to pick up some tips!!!

Have you got water butts set up so that the rainwater from the gutters fills them instead of going down the drain? With all the rain we've been having, they'll fill up pretty quickly and you won't have to use so much tap water for the animals.
