I picked up one of those over bath airers the other day in Tescos. It was half price (£6).
Yesterday I'd had to move it off the bath and it still had a couple of hand towels drying on it. I noticed one of my cats sitting underneath it, so when the towels had dried I draped a blanket over it. Pixel spent the whole day in his little tent!:rotfl:0 -
I loved hearing that, Gigervamp, it has really made me smile :-)The more I see of men, the more I love dogs - Madame de Sevigne0

Lol. He also likes sitting in the dolls house! One of the windows has come out, so he climbs in through that and all you see is a cats face looking out of the window!:rotfl:0 -
I have a family member with me at the mo while he has building work done and so a lot more washing than I'd usually get through - couldn't believe putting the heating on to dry washing was suggested! My flat has a covered balcony plus lots of ventilation for line / airer drying, funny how some others live isn't it?!0

I haven't put my heating on yet, but earlier this week it took me 3 days to get one load dry indoors and it started smelling musty, so I can understand why putting on the heating was suggested.0

Me too Gingervamp, for the life of me I cannot get the washing dry inside (I've tried everything, hanging it over stairs cos heat rises etc), but nothing works, it ends up taking ages and going musty as you say.
Seems to be tumble dryer or putting the heating on as the only way (when it can't be hung outside)M.A.C.A.W member number 39

Hi,
I don't know if this will help anyone but I've found that our laundry stopped getting the musty smell when we stopped using fabric conditioner. Don't know why but it did!
We've been without our washing machine for about 4 months and even with all the rain haven't had any problems with stuff smelling. I've been washing everything in the bath, wringing as best I can and then using an over bath airer and a big foldy out airer in the kitchen. Takes a while to dry but we've not needed the heating or anything like that.0 -
I remember last winter , i stood the clothes airer just infront of the oven door , when cooking dinner
. Then when you turn the oven off , leave it there and it will be warm for another half hour.

I don`t use fabric conditioner and have to dry all washing inside, including thick towels. It all dries in reasonable time and never any musty smell0

I was feeling the pinch too, until my friend recommended http://www*******net/. It compares the energy consumption of products. So when for example my tumble drier broke I bought the most energy efficient tumble I found on sust-it. I noticed my electricity bill went down dramatically. So I swapped a lot of my power guzzling white goods for more energy efficient ones, and my electricity bill has over halved. I am now considering swapping my TV for the most energy efficient one on sust-it. As I found out it used lots of power on sust-it and I feel like its costing me a fortune to watch it, which it probably is.
