I certainly recall asking on this thread specifically about the rightmove index

You are not back on topic though because the thread is not about RM's asking prices its about comments on stock per agents and the number of new sellers coming to market. This the point Carol is making. Therefore whether asking prices are relevant to whether there is going to be a crash is irrelevant to the thread.

In answer though as I have said before asking prices are simply about sentiment no difference to a consumer confidence survery about prices responded to by sellers. They wll not give any real picture on sale prices.

Have I? I remember saying at end of last year that the first few months of this year would shape where the market is likely to go and for me it has. We have only started seeing New sellers have only started to outstip new buyers since the start of the year.

We have a so called savage budget next month, a Euro which seems to be falling apart and the market has been very quiet for the last 2 months in many area's. It pretty obvious these things will have a huge effect on the economy over the next few months.
i don't have a too different view to you btw but i'm expecting it the first 9 months and issues in the last 3 - you've said it each and every month.

Yes, I think we managed to get it back on a sort of track despite some posters deliberatley trying to derail it.

I had a quick look at the thread, but not had much time lately.
A slight problem is that we are not fully aware of the data applied in government budgets and how it is spent

Most certainly, I believe our welfare state is disturbingly unfair on the general population and there should be a requirement to go out and earn benefits.
I don't care whether it is sweeping streets, weeding public gardens or any other job which would help reduce public spending.
Certainly if you have to earn the benefit, then you are more likely to have an incentive to go out and get a job rather than sit at home.

    Here is the linked article
    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/money/property_and_mortgages/article7128818.ece

Here is the title of the article
Asking prices edge higher but demand falls
Given the first two words in the artivle and headline is regarding asking prices as reported by Rightmove, I think most definately it is on topic.

I never mentioned if there was going to be a crash, I simply asked how accurate they were in relation to actual sold prices.
You say it's about sentiment, which I can understand, but conversley we've had reports of rightmoves asking prices going down, yet house prices have risen.
This points to a variance in percentage achieved between the asking price and the sold prices.
This variance for me is crucial as it therefore erodes any real accuracy you can draw from it.

Well, there is the family theory that we have some Russian royal blood, yes... ;) Though I think it's almost certainly not true. :( Shame.

No, I was referring to other posters, whom I have no reason to believe would do anything other than welcome your thoughts.

chucky has ventured there, and hell, I agreed with him.

    It can happen, you know...:)
