Try soda crystals and vinegar and put it on empty on a hot 90C wash. Should help :)

    Hi Tam,

    This earlier thread should help:

    Smelly Washing Machine!!!

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep all the suggestions together.

i'll second pollybear ..... handful of soda crystals and a glug of vinegar in the dispenser drawer, then run machine as hot as you can. or bicarb of soda is also good at removing smells if you haven't got any soda crystals :D

One thing I will add to the loads of suggestions on previous threads. Our current washing machine has a folded seal, with like a flap inside which things get caught. I regularly clean out the bit at the bottom, but hadn't realised it went all the way around, I got an old cloth and ran it inside and it was black! I was quite horrified. Hard to describe, but have a look and see if your rubber seal on the machine is how I describe.

    Uniform Washer
I was being wasteful with my washing machine so have halved my use, down to twice a week now. Finding a stale, danky odour - have run it through on a hot wash (normally do 40 degree or less) but its still there. Any suggestions greatly received.

    Hi Sally,

I've added your thread to an earlier thread that has lots of ideas that should help.

After many months of reading the glowing reports of Stardrops, I finally found some yesterday. This morning I thought I'd put just a dribble in the soap drawer of the amchine--I use liquid & no softner--& let the hottest wash work it's magic......

Anyone seen that advert where they let the foam roll out across the streets:rotfl:

Having read the thread from the beginning--plus the other varients--I have to say that I switched to liquid detergent because the waste pipe from the sink was very prone to blockage, due in main to the twit who thought water could travel UP hill  We are also a family of senitive skins so use branded non-bio, but perhaps it may be an idea to buy the occasional box of bio to run thru the machine.

So to summon up----if you decide to use Stardrops, be VERY economical with the dosage:D

Hello, im looking for some advice for my washing machine.

Its about a year old and has black staining at the rubber door seal, it also smells bad. Although my washing does not smell.

I notice it when the door is open and I pass.

It isnt under warrenty or I would give them a call, so any ideas on how best to clean/get rid of smell??

    Thanks :j
