The 1 series isn't the best BMW for sure - but I'd rather be driving that than a crappy french or japanese equivalent.

I'd have a Renaultsport Megane 250 (only for 3 years whilst under warranty) or a Honda Civic Type R than a boggo crappy 1 series.

I think the OP would work an awful lot better if you replace "BMW 1 series" with "Vauxhall Vectra" to be honest.

Still my GF nearly came a cropper thanks to an idiot in a BMW last week. She had to drive through a red light to avoid getting rear ended by an idiot in a BMW who ended up on the wrong side of the stop line and at a 45 degree angle after my GF performed the highly unpredictable manouvre of breaking moderately when the lights went from green to amber.

Good job there was no red light camera.

So if you had £20k+ to spend on a mid sized hatch you'd buy a 1 series?

    I wouldn't :rotfl:

Of course not, I wouldn't buy a mid size hatch anyway - not my sort of car.

Also I wouldn't go and buy a souped up civic or megane as I wouldn't want to look like a chav.

Hardly comparing like with like are you?

You can have a 116i Sport one series for around £17500 and that will get you a decent family hatch. Those cars you describe are for a different purpose.

Oh, and for the record a 1.6 Zetec Focus costs £19,345

And instead you would buy a focus? golf?

Thats the sort of money you're talking for a mid range model in those cars too.

For the record, the 1 series range starts at £17495 for a 121 BHP 2.0 litre 1 series Sport. Compare that to a focus pricelist and tell me what it buys you?

I think the best point of this thread is that BMW drivers might realise that there are other types of car as they normally think that BMW drivers are theonly ones on the road:rotfl::rotfl:

When comparing, bear in mind that Ford price lists are a work of fiction.

And to an extent, so are BMWs - you can get an easy 10% off list price, plus £500 worth of extras free as a complementary upgrade, so theres £2,000 saved.

Even if you can get £4000 off the Focus, it still only brings it in line with the BMW price.
