    Hi Allend,

The Utility Warehouse website carries all of the tariff information, so feel free to look up which area you are in and the tariffs are all displayed on there for you to work out what your monthly bills should be based on your usage. Did you make the call to Customer Services to get to the bottom of your issue as I tried to suggest?

    Hi Allend,
I posted roughly what your spend would be using Ebico prices, why don't you use the UK Power tools as suggested by Jannine.

Let us know what you find out.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Dear oh dear, We have all seen the video of that technique - it was posted on MSE.

As you are the salesman, let me pose a question for any on this forum to answer - those getting it correct will get a thanks.post_thanks.gif

Someone with the UK average consumption of 20,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh, living in the Midlands, can pay for that consumption, by Direct Debit to:

    Company A - £964

    Company B - £1,042

    Company C - £1,334

The companies in alphabetical order are British Gas, Scottish Power & Utility Warehouse(UW)

Without cheating by using a comparison website;) which company is UW?

Have a go and claim your thanks!
I see you choose to regard my previous simple multiple choice question as obfuscation. I will ask once again, is it more important to get the cheapest paper tariff or have the lowest amount of money going out of your bank account.

See, I'll assume from your example that UW is Company C, as is your way with trying to make us look like the bad guys. So, for gas & electricity I would spend £1,334 with UW and only £964 elsewhere, whichever company that may be. Ok, fine. I also shop in a lot of the cashback card partners stores, spending around £1100 per month in Sainsbury's and around £500 per month in other stores, giving me a total cashback of £696 discount off my bills per annum, meaning that the total amount that comes out of my bank account is £638, constituting a discount from your "cheapest" £964 of £326. So, although UW might have been more expensive to begin with on paper, the actual amount of money coming out of my bank account is lower with UW than with the other company.

The company is Utility Warehouse Discount Club. It's more than a simple gas & electricity supplier, and it's about time you got that through your heads. It doesn't matter a jot what the paper numbers look like. This site is about saving money, right? So, I have just illustrated in very simple terms how to save money with UW and make it cheaper than your other provider.

Please, with logic and reasoned salient points, describe how my above scenario is incorrect and how actually UW is still the devil in disguise.

You won't get an answer, Meeper. Seems like Cardew's modus operandi is to deflect the questions he can't answer by accusing you of obfuscation. As an example of diversion it's about as subtle as a flying mallet.

PS Perhaps you might try to pin him down with regards to the cash back card he uses?

    PPS Here's my Cardew-esque mantra:

For low-ish users who do not have 'net access, UW have just about the lowest Gas and electricity prices in the UK.

PPPS Carlsberg - probably the best lager in the World.

    Fun this.

    I have also awarded a post_thanks.gifto MillicentBystander.

When he posted as 1carminestocky, or was it Operastar, or perhaps it was Carespress(pretty sure it one of those) he was very proud of his ratio of post_thanks.gif to posts. So you can make him very happy if you thank him for every post he makes.

You are much fun. Care to add some substance with a logically structured and reasonaed counter to my above post? We are approaching 1000 replies in this thread, and I don't think you have answered any of my questions yet! And you say that I obfuscate and confuse matters!! Ha.

So I use an alternative supplier for my gas, elec and telecoms... and use a cashback card - just like the one available to NHS staff as posted on previous page.

  • Haven't read through the whole of this thread (the last three pages were enough :) ) but i'm disappointed to hear that UW tariffs are expensive for Gas and Electric.

I'm a UW customer and when i was "sold" the service i was told that UW constantly monitor the big six and make sure their prices are towards the lower end of them. Has this changed or was i lied to? To be honest i'm not the sort who will sit and compare tariffs of all of the companies and i also like the fact i pay everything in one DD.

Overall though i'm quite happy with UW. I use the cashback card. As a family of 5 with 2 cars we get through a lot of food and petrol. We spend over £1000 per month on this alone which obviously knocks a fair bit of our bills and we also use Argos plus some of the other stores quite a bit as well.

It has already been described for you why your scenario is incorrect, yet you just repeat your uw mantra claiming that uw is for us moneysavers.

    1) You pay £370 more than you need to by buying expensive uw energy.

    2) You tell us that because the uw takes your uw risky card cashback of £696 towards paying the bill that you are saving.

    3) The rest of us can see the flaw in your argument.

    4) Why not buy the cheapest energy in the first place, saving you £370?

    5) Then have your card reward for yourself to do what you want with (or use it to reduce your cheap energy down from £964 to £268)

(You seem to spend a lot at sainsburys, so why not get a card that gets a 5% discount there - you'd have an extra £264 to help get your energy cost down to just £4! But you would rather pay the uw your £638)
