I've not got the time at the moment to look at this card? Do you have to work for the NHS to get it?

Greetings, yes it will have been deleted, as this is the only place where the company that dare not state its name may be discussed.

I suggest you repeat your original post here.

A better idea would be use a comparison site to obtain your estimates.

Indeed, bearing in mind that a comparison site will not take into account all of the additional benefits that you would receive from being a UW Discount Club member.

  • thanks Penrhyn that explains the mystery.

Basically I am inviting a UW representative to help me.

In an attempt to greatly reduce my bills following divorce I signed up with UW

I have no idea what previous bills were as husband saw to them

So from Sept 6 2010 I have used 206 gas and 765 electric

(Gas was 3916 in sept and 4122 yesterday
elec was 33549 in sept and 34314 yesterday)

If you would like to check my maths.

UW have taken £122 a month from my account despite the fact I ring the numbers in each month!

I try to be a low user-am often quite chilly at home, and tend to keep one room really warm when I am in. I have a new heating system -gas combi boiler which is more efficient than old system)

when in I often have one lightbulb on and tv and sometimes computer.

To think they have taken £488 when I am trying to go steady is just wrong.

There could be many many reasons for this. Don't know where you are geographically, so can't determine what your bills should have been for that usage, but it is entirely possible that you were put on a plan to make regular monthly payments of the same amount regardless of the usage, and you may well be building up credit on your account. I would recommend calling Customer Services with your account number to hand and they will be more than happy to sort this out for you and explain exactly what the situation is. Nobody on here can give you any kind of response as to exactly what is happening, anything would be pure speculation. Call up Customer Services and they will assist you to get to the bottom of it.

Without question all of the other companies offer gas and electricity tariffs much cheaper than UW.

Quite simply UW have just about the highest prices in UK.

How much you will save depends on your consumption, but the cheapest on-line tariffs are generally 20% to 25% cheaper than UW.

In signing up with UW all you have done is given the person who signed you some commission - I expect the UW salesman was a friend or family member - that is the normal way they operate.

Without question all of the other companies have more expensive gas and electricity tariffs than UW also. Isn't broad generalisation fun?

UW have high energy costs, however the figures that you are quoting do not ring true for cost even taking the most expensive region. There is something amiss, so please feel free to ignore Cardew's post (which offers no helpful advice whatsoever and just does the normal UW-bashing) and call Customer Services who will be able to assist you in a timely and professional manner.

Unless my maths has screwed up ( not unknown ) you have used the following.

    765 kwh Electricity @ say 13p/kwh = £99
    206 metric gas units = 2389 kwh @ say 3.7p/kwh = £89

So thats £47 /month over the four months you quote.

As previously posted get in touch with customer services ASAP.

PS I used Ebico prices 'cos it makes the maths simples.
