Haha...here we go again! :rotfl: Your 'special' BT price. You mean, the one that isn't available on any website if people are looking to sign up to BT?

Nothing secret or special. 'People looking to sign up to BT' should read this.

    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayCategory.do?categoryId=CON-BT-BUNDLE-I

On phone rental all BT customers can get their rental for £10 a month(including VAT) by paying £120 in advance.

New BT customers get all sorts of discounts for signing a 12 or 18 month contract. See link above.

Martin has covered most of this on MSE

Existing customers who are approaching the end of their contract, can ring the retentions section of BT and negotiate a discount. I don’t know one of my discerning friends(who naturally use BT;)) who doesn’t do this as a matter of course.

If they didn’t offer a good discount you could leave BT and return as a new customer and claim the discounts shown in the link.

I have had discounts from BT for years and have just had a better offer. As posted above, this package is excellent value, even at standard BT rates, compared to anything UW have on offer, as UW have an additional charge for every extra.

I have just re-negotiated my BT contract and had an offer for a further 12 months. I have:
Phone line rental. I pay annually. Includes Caller ID and voice mail.

Unlimited anytime calls 24/7 including 0845 and 0870 numbers + 200 free texts

    Broadband Option 2

This is a nominal 20Mb service but apparently no provider can get me more than the 4Mb I get from my exchange.

    40GB download usage.

Full McAfee security suite(firewall/anti virus etc) This for my Desktop PC and the 3 laptops in the house.

    The latest Hub3 wireless router

Unlimited Wi Fi access for myself and family at 3 million ‘hot spots’ in UK and 400,000 abroad.

    Free Technical support

    Digital Vault – 5GB

As you so rightly say, we had this discussion before - when you were using one of your other identities(Meeper please note, would you like a link? ) - and you, like Meeper at present, refused to price the UW package.
  • If you get all that for £16/mth including 500 mobile minutes, u/l texts, up to 20mb BB, 40GB monthly, and all the stuff I posted in post 2224, come back to me with your price and we will discuss if further. I'm confident enough that you can't so I'm going to watch 'Submarine' now, an apparently excellent directorial debut from Mr Richard Ayaode. Have fun trying to spin further your 'un-competitive and you know it' deals, chaps.

The BT contract is not auto-renewing. The loyalty discount drops off after 12 months at which point you ring again and get another 12 months discount if you wish otherwise it's a month to month contract. The discount is mentioned on the forums here quite regularly. The paper bill option has no extra charge. UW charges £1.50 a month for online billing and £2.50 a month for paper billing and accidental death cover. So even if I took the 40GB internet package with UW it's £20+£2.50 for paper billing and membership+£2 for an internet phone line+£2 for a wireless router rental+£1.50 for caller number display+£1.50 for call minder+£1.50 for choose to refuse....Total cost £31 per month.

Glad to see you would point people towards this "fantastic" deal with prices that are quoted at one level, tie you in, then increase without warning when you're in the contract!

This is a weird thread because Ypaymore always seems eminently unbiased and sensible 'elsewhere' but seemingly in the need to try and discredit UW on here all that seems to go out of the window. Strange. Anyway, 'Submarine' beckons...

Link as much as you like, but take care to only link some proof that shows that both posters are the same person. Just posting another link by a different username doesn't mean a thing.

For the record, I have this package:

    https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/comms/moremax

along with electricity and mobile on the ValueMax tariff, and Cashback Card.

On top of that Technical support is an 0844 telephone number. not free.

You don't get 0845 numbers included.

Full McAfee security suite for all the PCs??

How about wi-fi access to millions of hot spots for all members of the family.?

    Digital Vault?

    LLU lines??

    P.S.

neglects to mention having to take 4 services
The page that Meeper links to earlier does mention free anti-virus software and free anti-spam software which should be similar to McAfee. Not sure what it is though. The page doesn't go into any detail.

Back again. I would highly recommend 'Submarine' btw. Lovely, quirky, lilting British feel good movie with a superb cast and amazing soundtrack provided by the lyrical genius that is Alex Turner ("If you're gonna try and walk on water make sure you wear your comfortable shoes" - Piledriver Waltz)

Anyway, where were we? Cardew, you don't seem to have come back to me with your price. Better than £16/mth? Is your deal a 'goer' or not?

PS HappyMJ, are your included calls with your deal 24/7 or just weekend only? And isn't the £10/mth line rental dependent on you stumping up £120 in one go and handing it over to BT? Isn't the line rental £13.90/mth REALLY? Soon to increase to £14.60/mth? Lots you aren't explaining in your quest to prove a point. Comparing apples and oranges aren't you, my friend. Apples and oranges.
