Only when you have 4 services and a cashback card does it look somewhere near cheap. It's not the cheapest in the UK nor is it the most expensive. As a standalone product UW gas and electricity is not cheap.......

To claim as a headline "UK's cheapest standard gas" and "UK's cheapest standard electricity" which is just a lie, and then learn the reps say you need to factor in using the "double the difference" guarantee to get this is downright deceitful. (As previously posted, you can only use this "guarantee" if you would have paid less by staying with your previous supplier AND taken at least 4 services with UW)

I also notice that on the strength of a totally discredited WHICH 'reader's survey' they now have the following on their new website.

    Which? Best Energy provider 2007-2011

This despite WHICH commenting, on this reader's survey that UW gas and electricity was 20% more expensive than cheaper tariffs.

Obviously the wording on the the UW website is intended to imply that WHICH have given them a 'Best Buy' status. That is the tactic used by some of the many 'UW spammers'on MSE and other websites.

If you use the Which?switch website, that does give Which? ratings by way of stars.
We have rated tariffs based on our customer satisfaction survey data and tariff data in order to provide further guidance to our customers about choosing a tariff

Eg. Most have 3 stars (including UW), but others have 4 (eg Eon).

You can list the results based on price (UW were 66 from the top when I played with it), or on the Which? ratings. UW were 41st using that ranking.

So where do UW get the Which? Best Energy Provider award from to put on their website? (Which? normally don't let companies use Which?ratings in their advertising, and this looks misleading!

"It's hard to argue against our fixed line phone service. It has the UK's lowest line rental"

What a load of tosh !!

Primus Saver,s £8.99 a month (without any discounts) beats it for starters.

PS When was the last time they increased their telephony products? Seems like ages ago - unlike Cardew's telephony provider of choice QUOTE]

You keep on about BT being a rip off.

I tried to price the equivalent UW price for the Broadband and Phone Service I get from BT, however wading through 20+ pages of UW’s terms and conditions – with so many extra charges – I gave up.
    https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/files/terms_and_conditions/Terms_and_conditions.pdf

I have just re-negotiated my BT contract and had an offer for a further 12 months. I have:

Phone line rental. I pay annually. Includes Caller ID and voice mail.

Unlimited anytime calls 24/7 including 0845 and 0870 numbers + 200 free texts

    Broadband Option 2

This is a nominal 20Mb service but apparently no provider can get me more than the 4Mb I get from my exchange.

    40GB download usage.

Full McAfee security suite(firewall/anti virus etc) This for my Desktop PC and the 3 laptops in the house.

    The latest Hub3 wireless router

Unlimited Wi Fi access for myself and family at 3 million ‘hot spots’ in UK and 400,000 abroad.

    Free Technical support

    Digital Vault – 5GB

So can any kind UW salesman(or Quentin) tell me how much this package would cost – including UW’s monthly membership fee?

You show me yours and I’ll show you mine!

Haha...here we go again! :rotfl: Your 'special' BT price. You mean, the one that isn't available on any website if people are looking to sign up to BT? Well, if you can include this price that not everyone can get, surely I can include the discount I get on my bill for using my cashback card? Agreed? I dare you to tell me your price and then I will tell you mine. Oh, and while you are at it, INCLUDE YOUR MOBILE DEAL IN WITH IT. TIA. :p

PS Aren't you on an auto renewing contract with BT? Maybe you aren't as you didn't mention it....

Glad to see you would point people towards this "fantastic" deal with prices that are quoted at one level, tie you in, then increase without warning when you're in the contract!

It's on the website. Slightly different offer to my offer. £10 line rental and £18 broadband. £7.50 BB for 3 months. Saving pro-rata £1.75 per month. Total cost £26.25 per month for the 18 month contract. As is well documented on the forums here all you need to do after the 18 months is up is ring BT and go onto another loyalty deal for 12 months. Mine is currently £23.30 per month for what I mentioned earlier.

My mobile is £1 per month with Talkmobile.

But you see, the price you and Cardew get is NOT on the website therefore it's not commercially available to all (and certainly not available to new customers). I'm sure if this was the other way round you and Cardew would be the first to cry foul. And you are initially signing up for an 18 month contract at essentially £26.25/mth BEFORE you get this price (and then only if you know about it because, like I said earlier, it ISN'T on the website). Come on, this isn't rocket science, chaps. And isn't the contract with BT auto renewing?

BTW, I can beat your (specially discounted) price by £££s and that includes phone line rental, up to 20MB BB, 40gb monthly d/l limit, 500 mobile mins, truly unlimited texts (as long as I don't text to more than 100 different numbers in the month), monthly paper bill (£1.50/mth extra with BT?), free calls to a UK BASED call centre (be honest now, have you ever got through to a UK call centre with BT?), fully inclusive calls to 01, 02, 03, 0870 numbers and the top International destinations (approx £5/mth more with BT?) evenings and weekends. Oh, and something I hope I never get the use of but it's still there..... £10,000 accidental death cover. I win. :p
