Where have I posted that I think UW customers are "fools"?
I have used the term "busy fool" (correctly) when answering claims from the reps that UW energy is actually cheap if we would only look at the whole picture, and take into account the "savings" to be gained by buying and using the risky UW card to reduce the bill.

Just been thinking about what Cardew said and it got me wondering.
When I was a UW gas and Elec customer I was paying roughly £5.00 per month more to UW than the next cheapest tariff (low user). If I came on here and said I was thinking of moving to EDF to save my £5.00 per month would it get recommended. Reading other posters comments on EDF, the total lack of customer service, the inability to contact anybody, the crazy direct debits, the lack of bills etc.. Would it really be worth the hassle for £5.00 per month or would I still be seen as a 'fool' just for being with UW and paying a little extra, but knowing I could contact them, get monthly accurate bills and not have to worry about getting in debit or them taking huge direct debits without warning me?
Seems to me at the moment that the 'fools' are changing to EDF without researching more than the price. I suppose if the bottom line is cost and of you don't care about customer service or any service in the case of some poor people switch to EDF!
Just to add I've not had any problems (touch wood) with EDF but after reading threads on here, many people regret switching to them.

I thought your savings for moving to EDF were higher than £5 a month - so I looked in the old thread and you stated the figure was £126 pa - and that was over 3 years ago.
Also that was based on your previous year's consumption when you were working and thus low. As you were expecting(or had just had baby?) and would be at home with the baby, you envisaged that your consumption would increase, and hence savings would be even more by switching from UW.
I don't think EDF customers were having the problems 3 years ago that they apparently are now experiencing.0 -

Cardew=obsessed much? :eek: Anyway, should we really be taking investment advice from someone who actually admits to having a share portfolio including lots of bank shares (bought before the Credit Crisis :eek:). And should we be taking gas and electricity advice from someone who refuses to divulge neither the tariff he is on or, indeed, the company he is signed up to :rotfl:. And should we be taking money saving advice from someone who uses BT for his phone/broadband (hmm...they're the cheapest on the market. NOT), shops at Waitrose and uses no cash back card? Obviously we don't know who he chooses for his mobile needs because telling us that would lead to him having to acknowledge the existence of UWs sim only deals which are guaranteed to be the cheapest in the UK and he clearly has no intention of going there0

Yes, I've been there too in the past.
My experience so far with UW Customer Services has been excellent. In fact I spent about 45 mins on the line to the techie guys on Monday when I couldn't understand how to program my new HTC to get the data working. I felt so sorry for the guy having to take me through step by step, screen by screen to get the correct details in my phone! He was so patient and I kept entering things wrong and then forgot to save the settings, so he had to do it all again! Such a star he was, bless him.
Me too. I had a problem with my land line last week. Had a crossed line with a BT customer on the exchange. UW's before and after care were excellent. The only thing I was frustrated at was having to wait a couple of minutes to get through. Normally it's 15 seconds.:rotfl:0 -

General Domestic or Standard 12-15p Per K/W (It depends on your usage and any standard charges) or Economy 7(again depending on type of user and standing charge ) absolutely no more then18pPer K/W.

Can do.... but I have deleted links to emails and websites so don't see why it can't stay here as a reflection as to what lengths UW distributors go to to gain custom. As you can see they claim to be personally ofcom and ofgem regulated. Really? and then they go on to guarantee to lower the bills of someone on a very good rate anyway who has compared already to find it would cost her an extra £447.16 per year by switching to the cheapest rate on the market. How can UW possibly ever guarantee to beat that? I can't even imagine anyone has a tariff that can beat that.
