Lol, I'm sure Q will find some angle to have a go. Looks like gas up 13.5% and electric up 14.2% for me. Still disappointing on the electric front but looking like I could be completing my 4 qualifying services by taking their gas. I'll still wait until they've all got their increases showing on the comparison sites, though. Can't be too careful.;)0

just had a look and tbh EDF Fixed 2014 is actually quite a bit cheaper0

Kindly explain how MSE are involved with them?0 -
New prices are on energyhelpline..
Average usage in my area (Seeboard) shows that SSE, E-on and Scottish Powers standard tariffs are all cheaper, UW's electricity seems very expensive, even for them..Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Yes, it's definitely their electricity prices that's doing them no favours as their gas is very competitive. But npower's electricity has always been traditionally expensive. Luckily for me, I only need UW gas to complete my 4 services (already have broadcall and mobile SIM, both are very competitive price wise) to get the 24/7 inclusive calls. Of course I need to take either £9 or £18 off any gas price quoted on the switching sites as I already pay the monthly club fee.0

npower electric are expensive up front because of the discount scheme they operate - you need to stay the full duration of the contract to recieve benefit.
UW`s prices for seeboard region on energyhelpline:
Pricing DetailsBreakdown
Gas Electricity
Standing charge 15.19 p per day 18.99 p per day
Unit charge (pence per kWh) 3.992 p 12.189 p
so i stand corrected re fixed 2014 - the unit price for the 3 year fix is 12.37p vs 12.19 for electric BUT
the gas is a bit higher at 3.992 vs 3.5520 -

The prices on Energyhelpline for Midlands(16500/3300) are:
Electricity Standing Charge = £63 per year
Electricity @ 11.632p/kWh
Gas Standing Charge = £94.50
Gas @ 3.941p/kWh
Paper billing £12 a year
UW club membership £18 a year.
That corresponds with the figures on the UW website(after adding 5% VAT). However UW state that these prices are valid from 01 April 2011
So can we confirm that these are the new increased prices?0 -
They are indeed the new prices.0

Just looked at USwitch and I can only conclude there is an error on their website.
They appear to show the old UW high user prices:
Gas standing charge according to Uswitch is £44.1 and Gas 3.398p/kWh.
So the gas standing charge has gone up by a whopping 43% and gas supply by 16%.
USwitch give electricity standing charge as £63 and electricity as 11.62P/kWh
So that means the Electricity Standing Charge has gone up by 50% and there has been no increase in electricity supply prices????
Given that statements have been made that the electricity rise is very high, can any UW salesman clarify.?0
