  • i must say i am disappointed - whilst opinions are quite obviously polarised , for some who are openly UW staff (resellers) to come in and launch ad-hominem attacks on another poster , who , yes , is vocally dismissve of UW - is a poor display for your company that you represent. Cardrew does , looking at this posting history , back up his view point with relevant and in the public domain facts or information - and i think his biggest gripe, is the UW position of `cheapest` when online tarrfis are cheaper - but ofc next to standard then UW are cheaper - as for Quention , i think his opinion is more personal.

My UW bill was still only £154.55 (£160 excl cashback) and that was for gas, electric, landline, broadband, internet phone, freephone number and wi-fi dongle.
My utitities bill for July was £ 137 for a 3 bed semi. Gas/elec from Eon and broadband/landline/all calls/WiFi etc from BT. I never saw the need to faff about with cashback cards and still don't.

and i think his biggest gripe, is the UW position of `cheapest`
The biggest gripe concerns gas and elec prices. The cashback card and telephones etc are irrelevant to that gripe. When taken in isolation UW are the most expensive for these two utitities although UW use a form of smoke and mirrors to disguise this and say they are cheaper by bundling everything else together. Despite what any UW rep says (and I have 3 as personal friends, family and they all know I won't sign up) there is a form of deception in that claim. JMHO.

Interesting. That's about my average bill normally after my cashback but yours is for 4 services whereas mine is for 7, in a 4 bed detached!

I saw another discussion about the bandings. I did have them but can't find them now. I do know we fall well into the high user for electricity but medium user for gas.

So I also probably use a lot more than you too, yet still pay about the same. Very interesting. Thanks for doing that comparison. :)

"I note that all the UW salesmen are joining together in making personal attacks on Quentin.

If he was a UW salesman, so what? -and I have no idea if he was so 'employed'. "

It's purely the way Quentin responds to things that lays him wide open to criticism, not just from UW ID's but from others too.

I am not being nasty; I actually find his arguments highly amusing and laugh every time I read one. As I have said several times before, he loses all credibility as his contributions carry no weight at all, they're just a bitter attack.

The same occasionally applies to you too Cardew but you are not so vicious in your writing so to respond to yours wouldn't be quite as enjoyable.

It is human nature to react to an attack, so if you don't want a reaction, don't attack. Simples.
  • actually he has a similar package to you - gas and elec which are simiilar , and internet/phone (anytime) from BT - comparable to `broadcall max`, the cheapest internet has a really really low cap of 2 gig - (my son uses that on you tube alone) and anytime phone ; the wifi is BTFon which means he has access to BT wifi anywhere, anytime (it works by using your own login on anyones BT wifi and doesnt impact on there useage caps , and has a built in speed limiter so you dont impact there services).

looking on the UW website that leaves mobile and cashback card as the remaining `options` available - if he doesnt have a mobile (or pay as you go) and doesnt want a cashback card .

Interesting post. Quentin has claimed several times that he has never been a UW ID. It seems even you, unquestionably his biggest supporter on here, aren't convinced either.
  • Shame UW distributor,s cant post more details of UW energy price increase,s rather then having a pop .:D

The problem is that your definition of an 'attack' is when anyone points out the weaknesses in UW.

Instead of addressing the issues raised, the massed ranks of UW sales staff wade in and make personal attacks - particularly on quentin.

For years UW have had just about the most expensive gas and electricity in UK. That is factual and includes not just the internet tariffs but all the Standard dual fuel tariffs of the big six.

If you look back on this thread, I and others have given countless examples where UW gas and electricity prices have been well over 30% more expensive than the cheapest tariffs for the average user.- not just the 20% more expensive claimed by WHICH.

Even now when most companies have increased their prices, and UW haven't, for someone with average consumption(16500/3300kWh) in my district(Midlands) UW best tariff is in 16th position in the 'league table' - and 10.4% more expensive than the cheapest tariff.

I suggest it will be a pretty fair bet that once UW price rise comes into effect, they will resume their position near the bottom of the league table.

That wouldn't be so bad if there were not so many UW salesmen who are intent on spamming this and lots of other sites with remarks that are beyond presenting UW in a favourable light - they are simply deception - lies. Examples:

    1. UW guarantee to supply the cheapest gas and electricity.

    2. The WHICH report states UW are the best gas and electricity company.

There must have been many scores of spamming posts deleted from MSE, and lots more on other websites. The quote below is an interesting approach:
Due to persistent attempts by Utility Warehouse distributors to tout for business on this community forum - contravening the moneysupermarket.com Community Standards and Terms of Service - this post has now been locked. Touting for business, advertising and marketing tactics will not be tolerated by this community.
May I respectfully suggest you look for more original means to advertise your business, while checking out the following:
    1. moneysupermarket.com Community Standards.
    2. moneysupermarket.com Community Terms of Service.
    3. Unfair Trading Regulations - Please pay particular attention to 'Section 5: Misleading actions'.
Many thanks for your kind co-operation...

Incidentally that was after a post by someone who has used several names to post on MSE always in support of UW and to slam every other gas and electricity company.

All the UW salesmen got mightily upset, when Quentin posted some absolutely disgraceful 'UW Eyes only' clips of sales 'managers' coaching salesmen how to deceive customers.

Even worse were some of the lectures at the UW conventions(Big Al etc) and the hysteria it created amongst the audience.

Why are UW salesmen so upset that the public actually see how the salesmen are taught?
  • An old acquaintance i havent heard from in ages mailed me to say that he is now a distributor with Utility Warehouse and that they guarantee that the mobiles, phone line, broadband gas and electricity are ALL the UK's cheapest (or money back).

    Is this correct ?

    No.

He has "mislead" you. Have a read through this thread and you will see how easily UW reps say these sort of things, and how upset they get when challenged over misleading like this.
