  • Andy stay away from them and tell your friends as well. This company alters documents and harres over unpaid money even if you have a legal dispute with them! I have the proof in all telephone calls recorded. Not nice when things go wrong which is the main issue with these tyrants.

Am off to do a comparison and the contact my LL to see If I can change suppliers!

UW dont normally have any minimum term on their products, but your LL may be an agent earning commission on your useage, but legally i understand he cant dictate what supplier you use.

Obviously we are devastated and when I received the following email I thought it may be from a charity of some kind.
I was disgusted when I followed the link and found that, in fact, it was from Utility Warehouse.

Please, if you're thinking of switching to Utility Warehouse, reconsider; the insensitive B******s need to be taught a lesson!

I am very sorry to hear about your loss, I can't even imagine what you must be going through.

I must admit to being slightly confused by the above quote, how do Utility Warehouse know about your situation?

  • It doesn't seem a legitimate email. Look at the spelling and grammar! Whatever the rights and wrongs of UW this is very unlikely to be from any utility company due to the spelling and grammar.

    Hi Cousin Hilda

As with janninew, I can't begin to know how you must feel.

If you would like to take this further, please let me know and I will be very willing to pass this on to UW for further action.

But UW operates differently to any other utility company with its 30000 reps encouraged to prey on their own contacts.

They don't bother about their reps spelling/grammar etc (eg. see Vinny's posts here).

And their reps are trained to use any opportunity to contact a "prospect". None of us are safe!!

On their website they are taught how to find new "warm" contacts by compiling a "list" (note how they are taught to use their friends' friends on Facebook!):
Carry your list with you everywhere so you can add names to it when something jogs your memory (e.g. go past a barbers and it makes you remember the name of your barber or hairdresser)

Go through your Facebook friends list and your friends' friends list and look for people you know or names that inspire you

When you write a name down think of everybody you know who has the same first name, then the same surname. Then, go through the people you've just added and repeat that process

Add people even when you can't think of their name (e.g. the "crossing lady" at the kids' school). You can either arrange to "bump into them" or the name may come to you later

Don't limit your list to people you know well. Anybody you have ever known and even friends of friends should be on your list. If they would recongnise your face and / or name then that is enough to make them a warm contact

Good grief, how appalling. I expect it was one guy scouting round the local papers for contact information. He needs dismissing from UW immediately. I do hope you'll take it further and get him sacked so that he isn't in a position to continue to work like that. If you still have the link they sent, they will no doubt be able to tell who sent it to you.

Cousin Hilda, so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how you must be feeling.

Like everyone else, what this individual did was not just awful but disgraceful. Mike by Sea offered to help root out this idiot. I hope you contact him to do so CousinHilda. This shouldn't be allowed.

Like others my sympathy goes out to you. And like others I have no idea what you are going through. What this person did only adds to your grief. Insensitive is too weak a word to describe his or her behaviour.

On a general note brought up by someone else. Networking and building a contact list is not restricted to nM companies like the Utility Warehouse. It's applicable to all businesses. That's why the Chamber of Commerce etc run networking events for local business to build up a contact list.

A certain individual here who is so bitter and twisted towards the UW has allowed common sense to leave him or her.

As someone pointed out whether you like or dislike UW the company run the business legally and would not stoop to suggesting to its IDs to use any means possible to recruit people. The same applies to all the other NM companies.

An apology is in order to all law abiding and ethical people irrespective of network marketing company they happen to be involved in.

Again keggs turns up purely to defend uw, (and personally abuse "another poster" critical of uw).

It's strange to see him demanding an apology over criticism of the modus operandi of the uw reps (who we have seen are taught to take advantage of their friends by asking for their help over a problem at work when they really are intending to sign them up for utilities), especially when elsewhere he continues to post his great unhappiness with uw, who he says now is "insiduous" in its behaviour and is no longer an "honest" company, and urges the uw management to "get a grip"!

    Just what are his motives?

If any of the directors or MDs are reading this, please get to grips and take the company back to what it once was... a great, fair and honest company.

I'm wondering if the connection with nPower is the cause of this insidious behaviour.

Keggs has already stated that he can no longer sell uw products:

THis to me is very sad. As for motivation - I've lost it now. I can't even be bothered going to MAD as it will just be same claptrap.

(Wasn't "MAD" the uw action day conference when Big Al taught the reps how to manipulate the minds of their friends/relatives to get them to sign up?)
