Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

They'll crack it eventually. If you think about it their previous deals on Sim only were okay, the ones before that were shocking.. they're still brilliant if your phone model is not too expensive e.g. Blackberry. It is a wise money saving move if you can afford it, to buy the phone new or nearly new yourself, and then bung in a Sim Card. 500 mins, unlimited texts, data bundle for £15 no contract is amazing.
They'll crack the pricing on the more pricey handsets eventually, they always come out with new ideas.
I have an old deal on Sim Only in my Blackberry which was £12 for unlimited texts and 150 mins.
In April they've said I can switch over to the 500mins unlimited texts for £10.
Ahh, I get it now. The only proof you need as to just how cheap the new sim only deals are is the fact that Cardew and Quentin haven't mentioned them once. They don't want to even acknowledge their existence. It's what I would call a silent (but strangely ringing louder than a campanologist on speed) endorsement
PS talking of utterly wonderful (which we actually wasn't)

I've noticed this forum since I became a customer 6 months ago. It was blindingly obvious that any fleeting glance showed they had some kind of axe to grind and/or interests in a competitor or internet switching website.
You just would never put that much time and effort into something if you didn't have an interest elsewhere.
This isn't really about them though, I just hope I offered some help which is the point of this forum.
UW have been successful at shrinking the amount coming out of my bank account. Especially January's bill after the Christmas spend on their cashback card/online shopping facility. It literally halved my bill rather than the usual 20-30% I see.0 -
I am a new poster. I have come on to read reviews on Utility Warehouse. I am neither with them or against them but in the process of deciding whether to use them. Having read almost every review i can only say this;
to the Quentin/Cardew faction - repetitive, aggressive and narrow minded. Your attitude hinders the points you try to make as you do not come across as reasonable. I am intelligent, I am capable of looking deeper than whether something is cheap or cheapest or cheaper than UW and can do price comparisions as i have done today based on my own details. However, i'm looking for value so will judge on the T&C's and small print.
to the UW faction - at least reasonable arguments and no aggression in your statements. However, i am sceptical about the detail. It's fine to save money but i like to be able to 'get out' of any agreement i make.
So, i'm off to do further research and to analyse the small print in any contract/sign-up/ or club membership i might decide to take out.
Good luck with the arguments here but you all seem to be going round in circles- neither side will back down and give up.0 -
Interesting first post, or is it?
Doing your own research is the best plan, we will all be interested in your findings. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

I am sure you are correct - how perceptive.0 -
as a former customer of Utility warehouse (telecom Plus), i had many problems when a new gas meter was needed, there gas services come from national grid so they cant really do anything untill the national grid have confirmed, so you really do get the feeling your running a circle.0

To be fair to UW (now theres a novelty!) thats the situation with every supplier.
In effect, all these companies do is bill you, so no matter who you are with the gas is still taken care of by National grid/Transco, its just how the energy companies interact with National grid that makes the difference.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

I am an independent distributor with Utility Warehouse and the views I express may not be shared by the company. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

I was sold utility warehouse stuff by a family member who strongly believes it is a good thing - and it seems most of the companies are similar so thought I would try it - generally been happy for a couple of years - but two things recently - I signed up to get the phone and broadband package - was something ridiculous like £27 a month (i went elsewhere for £15 a month) and a sign up fee/connection fee of £100 - less than BT but again got it for £49.
Then - I have suddenly had a notice from the debt collectors saying I owe £500 from the last property I lived in (for a year with two other tenants) depsite the fact we paid a regular monthly direct debit and gave them monthly readings - and also hadn't politely tried to contact me to tell me about the debt before contacting the debt collectors (and they have my new address etc)
my mum is also signed up and she had recently acquired a credit of over £100 on her gas bill, but a debit of £270 on her electricity bill - and they wouldn't let her transfer the credit over to reduce some of the debt -
verdict - could be a good idea to have all utilities in one place - but not happy with this incidents - having said that though their customer service is fairly good - will contact you quickly if you email them and ask them to - and respond to all forms of communication - so no sitting for hours on the phone in a queue0
