As pointed out many times, UW reps would love for this thread to be closed.
After all UW and the term 'Money Saving' are not compatible.
This thread serves an important service in alerting newcomers to the practices of UW and highlights their high prices.0 -
But the company seems to have grown massively since the original thread started so I'm not sure if that theory is correct? And, anyway, what would you and Quentin do with your time should this thread close? In that way, maybe this thread is offering a valuable community service.0

You got to hand it to 'em.
This is now on their website regarding the risky card, where they refer to their 3 to 7% "cashback".No other card offers this level of CashBack
Very clever - totally meaningless, totally misleading yet factual!0 -

Is that true? UW and moneysaving seem very compatible to me, they give me approx £20.00 cash per month (on a quiet month) and even pay for my phone rental/calls, not bad for doing nothing above what I would without the card.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Just had my latest UV bill and i'm now a bit confused by the phone/internet charges. Before VAT these charges are :-
Home Phone: 15.44
Freephone: 3.00
Internet: 23.32
Seems alot when i have checked with Sky and i can have that (minus the freephone) for 17.500 -
I used to make bad comments about a rival company, and now I work for them and have understood their qualities.
More insight into the "qualities" expected from uw reps.
In particular how to take advantage of your friends.
Here is a "training call" on how new reps can overcome any objections from their friends who have responded to a request from the new rep to help you over needing to practice his "spiel" (the trainer's word, not mine!)
http://www.networkerplus.co.uk/audio/jc/Handling-Objections-181009.mp3
Look out for:
The use of weasel words (eg tell the friend you need "help over practising", as everyone will want to help, keep repeating the word "benefits")
Use the "absolutely fab", (trainer's words), but totally misleading savings calculator (so you can show your friend in writing he will save £851!)
http://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/home/Savings/Savings_Calculator.taf
Cynically told not to mention sainsbury, but instead refer to food/fuel (and let them discover later its only at selected stores - and remember this is dealing with a close friend!
(Scouse Jimmy the uw rep closes the sale of 2 cards without pointing out which supermarkets his mate needs to go to)
His "mate" says he's never heard of uw - and the answer is Which mag says we are number 1!
Although the savings printout shows so called savings without including the monthly fee, the reps are encouraged to overcome your friend not wanting paying the monthly membership fee by showing him the printout again! Etc Etc!
Normally when confronted by salespeople we are on our guard and look out for "catches" and misleading claims, but we don't expect our mate to come round our houses all trained up on how to manipulate us to take advantage of our relationship.
But that's uw for you! Those that see this sort of behaviour as "quality" are welcome to their opinion, but don't grumble that others here take an opposite view.0 -

How come you're paying £23.32 for internet? That seems a lot, and UW's prices don't seem to tally with that online. Have you gone over your download limit?0 -

Just seems alot. Thats my point. Fairly obvious i'd have thought
Twitters - Doesn't mention going over the limit or anything. I've checked back a few months and this is what i've been charged for a while. Need to check it.
As per my post about Gas/Electric i think i've gone to long without queering this. Just assumed that UW were charging the going rate. Need to look at all my utilities i think0 -
Thats what i've said i'm looking to do:money:0

But you still need to know if you've been charged correctly or not, BaggieBoy, surely? I'd give them a ring. IME (although I haven't had to ring them many times) they have always answered very quickly (usually speaking to an actual human being within less than a minute!) and sorted my query out without passing me from pillar to post (I now realise how good their CS is when compared to my present supplier, EDF!!).0
