That would be SwanJon, I assume? So proud of his association with British Gas he puts the info in his signature in 'invisible' writing. He has also been known to defend BG in another thread on this forum without stating he works for them. Funnily enough, he also gets backing from one of the 'usual suspects' on here in that thread (not Quentin, as he NEVER gets involved in any other thread on the G&E forum except this one). What's that saying again? One rule for one.....

PS Anyway, back to those uswitch figures.

I do think though for non-Internet users or very heavy shoppers (£1000 a month at Sainsburys or Asda) then UW are quite competitive.

To get "competitive", uw customers have to fall for the line we hear from their reps - which is along the lines of forget the high energy prices, take our risky card, shop at uw partner retailers to "earn" cashback that uw will take to pay towards the high cost uw products on your bill.

In your example, the gross "cashback" being earned (ie before paying for the card and all its ongoing fees) would be £360 a year. All of which would be taken by uw. Yet £600+ in gross discount is easily achievable elsewhere if you want to spend £12000 a year at asda/sainbury. (And you get to keep the £600 for yourself)

The uw card isn't a unique way to get discount off shopping at Sainbury/Asda - though it probably is unique as the only one that only passes on just 3%! Presumably uw pockets the rest directly!

The reps are well aware that the risky card "discounts" aren't competitive (eg it's easy to get 5% (more if you include any airmiles/cashback etc you get with your credit card) off shopping at Asda/Sainbury, and now we learn that uw's poor 3% isn't even paid on all purchases as they no longer allow it when buying gift cards (eg for next etc) from Sainbury.

The reps all urge that we should look at the big picture and ignore the expensive tariffs, as all we have to do is combine busy fool activity with being a member of the "club" and it'll be money saving.

Just not so, but a complicated sales patter to pass on to the reps friends/relatives who will trustingly accept what their relation/friend rep tells them.

But really just a complicated and expensive way to buy utilities.

Another 57 pages of utter garbage. It doesn't matter what positive things are siad about UW the usual suspects will just try to argue the opposite. It's totally boring now and doesn't help genuine people visiting this site looking for help. I wish the naysayers would grow up and just accept some people like UW, some people don't, some people aren't sure and leave it at that.

I enjoy reading the posts of those who recommend UW, I also enjoy reading the posts from those who don't.

    So which ones are best?

PS Totally off-topic but have to say one of the funniest things I've seen in a while was Gervais introducing Bruce Willis on to the stage at The Golden Globes and describing him as 'Ashton Kutcher's dad':D

Too quick, Quentin, that proves you have all these sorts of posts already prepared and on your PC. Seriously, how sad is that? HaHa

If you are using data from another web-site, do you not have to provide a link or a source? Or can I start writing random comments and say such a body wrote this on another web-site? Interested to know!

If I wasn't a mild mannered individual I'd have said a few choice words to Quentin. Completely right MillicentBystander.

Penrhyn - I'm glad you like to read both sides but it's just the same thing over and over and over and over.......again. Nothing constructive

It's Quentin - we all know he's the one who does exactly what he's quick to pull up other posters for. I think the term is hypocrite. With a PC full of ready made UW posts. So maybe sad hypocrite? PCWorld would have a laugh if they got his laptop in for repair...
