You should have messaged them and said you wish you could help but only have a spare pair that were going to the landfill this afternoon in a size 6.

Tell the moderators as many have a two strikes and you are out policy.

I get so many no shows now I rarely use freegle any more unless I am really desperate.

Thank you soolin and KxMx, I'll do that and let the moderators know.

I have so far refrained from sending them a snotty text message along the lines of "I assume your lack of contact means you're not interested in my item any more. Thank you so much for letting me know" lol!
  • well i just had a wonderful freecycle experience.

Me and my bf are having our first christmas together and dont have a tbale or chairs. I have been asking on f/c for months to no avail.

One was advertised last night. So i simply messaged asking to be considered, said about christmas and thanked her for her time.

She DELIVERED it just now to my house! i got her a bunch of flowers as we are so so so greatful. Its nowt fancy and needs a dust but to just have a tbale..and 4 chairs means we can sit down for lunch.

whats more, she had to pull up in the road and cars were behind her...they must have guessed the situation and when i gave her the flowers they thumbed up and clapped in theirs cars..no beeping or swearing!

This is what freecyle should be about..manners and decent people ..

im on cloud nine..so excited! Sad isn't it? lol
Need a new start..wheres good to live in the UK?!
  • Amethyst that is so lovely, what a nice lady!

On my local freecycle recently -

Wanted for a struggling mum -

    Black PS3
    Nintendo DSi
    Mothercare spin pushchair
Moses basket and stand - must be in good condition.

I laughed so hard I actually cried!

In those terms we are all struggling!

PS3s are a couple of hundred quid, same with the DSi. The mothercare spin is now discontinued but still selling for circa £300.

    Pah.
  • it was only a matter of time...........

No that's not sad, it's lovely! I love hearing about people doing things like that out of the goodness of their hearts.

I gave away a leather armchair last week, I didn't get a thank you or anything. All I got was some idiot chav huffing and moaning because I couldn't figure out how to take it apart to fit it into his stupid car. I felt like telling him where to go!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
The other night we were gifted enough laminate flooring to do our bedroom, and our small bedroom. We're chuffed to bits! Also, when turning our 3rd bedroom into a study for Mrs Begley recently we were lucky enough to receive ALL the furniture we needed (bookshelf, desk, chair, wall shelves) and the paint to decorate it with!

i wish they would moderate gumtree like they do ebay , apart from all the scammers asking for bank details, the "stuff wanted" board has become more of a begging board ie people demanding things like macbooks, iphones, flat screen tvs for free!
    rant over :)
  • I have had a gut full of this serial wanter - her ads pitch up every 7 days without fail

these are just samples from her last 4 posts that also include wants of other electrical equipment

"my son who is 19 is looking for any working laptop"

"childs laptop-barbie or any girls one"

"my sister is looking for a working laptop
so she can keep in touch with friends and family
she has arthritis and her pelvis is caving in"

"my nephew who as autism is in need of a laptop as is broke"
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)
