I haven't freecycled before and offered my first thing (a large item of furniture) which should have been collected this weekend. The person collecting lied to me (said she was getting chucked out of her ex boyfriend's house into an unfurnished flat and he was keeping all her furniture), didn't turn up when arranged, didn't contact me (I had to contact her to find out where she was and then she had a sob story about a poorly child), promised faithfully to text me the following morning after she had spoken to her husband (where's the horrid ex-boyfriend then?!?) about when he could collect the item, didn't text and generally messed my weekend up.

Is there anything I should do or shall I just get over it and hope the next person I've offered it to is a bit more reliable and honest?

Tell the moderators as many have a two strikes and you are out policy.

I get so many no shows now I rarely use freegle any more unless I am really desperate.

I put a serious enquiries only notice, and make it clear they will only get one chance once collection is arranged, unless I am contacted in good time and then it's 2 chances.
