A couple collected promtly, in their large white transit van. An e-mail 30 minutes later thanked me for the items and said "Unfortunately, these won't be going for a charity this time as the kids have decided keep all the stuff" Seriously?? Why would you email me to say that for? She got reported to the mods but I still have her asking for stuff now.

That's the oldest trick in the book. If someone turns up in a van to pick stuff up it will more than likely end up at a boot sale the following day, There's traders that trawl freecycle. But hey you wanted rid of the stuff and it went.

Oh I have very specific rules for who I offer to.

If they don't say PLEASE and THANK YOU in their email, they do not get (usually gets rid of half of them!)

If they don't capital letters and full stops or use text speak, they do not get. (gets rid of half of what is left!)

That's the problem isn't it, at the end of the day, the stuff is not wanted any more so it shouldn't matter who it goes to, but when it is something you have spent good money on in the past, you want it going to a genuine person

I agree, it is much nicer if the item goes to someone that really needs it, not someone that is only out for themselves to make a profit from someone else.

When I offer items on freecycle maybe I could have sold them on a car boot but would rather give to someone that really needs it.

But then again not everyone is honest and thinks about other people so you will always get people on there that are out to exploit it.

A huge amount of my stuff has been picked up by dealers...the white van and not knowing exactly what they are collecting is the give away.

Well at least this one says thank you.

    Wanted: 7-seater car!
    Location Shropshire
Description We have a growing Christian family (3 children and another on the way) and find that a small Skoda Fabia is just not big enough. Also, my husband's van (used for work) has recently died on us. We now share this small car between us, and living in rural Shropshire proves difficult. This car would be an answer to prayer. Thank you! :)

Oh I have a 7 seater car to get rid of and because these people are Christian, I won't charge them as that would be against God's will. It is a 10 Reg so vertualy new. I'll throw in DVD players for the kids too.
