Inappropriate post regarding wanted female friend
    All,

Please be aware that this person has been removed from the group and their post deleted.

Apologies for those who were offended.

The person has been notified, so please do not mail them regarding this matter.

    Many thanks

All - there seems to be some confusion regarding the earlier announcement earlier today.

The message was posted saying that I had removed an offending post and removed the poster from the group.

This was sent to everyone as a notification so you all know that the matter was dealt with.

Some people feel that they are being advised of this being themselves...

As I wrote the poster of the wanted message an individual email then you can all rest assured that no further action is needed by yourselves.

I am not going to reveal further information regarding who that person was, if by chance you saw the original message then you will kunow of course. If you have not seen the original message and it wasn't you who wrote it then please be comforted in the knowledge that we are working to keep the site family friendly.

    Many thanks

  • There was a jem of a post on our forum the other day by the mod basically went along the lines of
'We know that someone has been given items and selling them on, we are taking this seriously and the person who recently gave some items to this person is wanting to make this a police matter. We know who you are and want you to know that we are keeping any eye on you and informing the tax man as your making nice little earner while we decide on what step to take next'

this made me lol as i just imagined the police trying to keep a straight face.

I don't get why people seem to feel they have rights to know whats going to happen to the item once they have given it away. Fair enough if you request that the item goes to someone who's going to use it but once it's gone it's gone.
I do like the offered posts that have since followed which contain a load of junk imo with the bolded
NOT TO BE SOLD ON I WILL KNOW, NO TIMEWASTERS, I NEED THIS GONE ASAP OTHERWISE IT'S GOING TO THE TIP!!

I don't understand when they want rid of something so badly why they care what happens to it esspecially when it's a load of junk someone would find hard to sell on anyway. If i offer something on freecycle it is because otherwise it will end up down the tip and i don't care what happens to it. The mods are making matters worse!
  • My local group permits selling items obtained from Freegle as long as it's done honestly, but forbids taking items under false pretences, which I think is fair. If I offer something and get more than one person asking for it, I'd rather give it to someone for their own use, but I'd rather give an item to a profiteer than bin it.

Another complaint about lack of manners!

I've not posted on our local group for over a year, last time I had a Mickey Mouse toaster and sandwich toaster - I got over 20 sob stories!

At the weekend I put our dining table on - it's huge and too big for our needs now. I have had 3 replies so far, 'I'm interested', 'I want this and will take it tomorrow', ' When can I collect' - no please or thank you anywhere!

Have manners gone out of fashion? :)

  • My local freegle is not half as exciting as some of yours - we get the odd request for a car (must have Tax & MOT) but I was in luck last night. I don't usually get picked but a lady was giving away some clothes. I had the choice of a few sizes but when I got there the other collector had asked her to deliver, so I got them all. Three large sacks of clothes, all Next, M & S etc... There was so many I shared half with my daughter.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:

I replied to an offered the other day - saying something like "I know this has been on for an hour so you've probably had about 37 emails by now but can I please be considered as it would be perfect for..."

Got offered it as I was apparently the first reply who hadn't just been "I'll have it" that morning.

I'm thankful the "I'll have it" crew haven't discovered manners - it's a useful screening tool.

  • I posted some christmas baubles and lights the other day - have had replies ranging from:

"hi i can collect 2day if poss thanx" (for half the items) to"Dovu still have these" (for half the item) to "i'll come @ 11 tomoz, where r u" to "phone me on xxxxxxx I'll have them"

I don't think anyone has mentioned the items by name in the main body of the message.
    Please hasn't featured once.

So as they are not taking up space and I was simply offering them as I know some people do struggle with money at christmas to buy things they will stay in my christmas box until a) i see a deserving 'wanted' or b) I get a sensible polite reply.

Back to my dining table saga! As we need the space I picked one of the ungratefuls to come and collect the table - the only one that said they could collect it! Day and time arranged, she turned up half an hour early before we'd finished our dinner.

She had turned up in a Ford Focus to collect a 6ft dining table! Then said she was told it was a butterfly type and should fit in her car (she was collecting on behalf of a friend). DH had taken the top off it but it still wouldn't fit as she couldn't/wouldn't entertain trying to put the back seats down. Then she accused me of not putting the size of the table on the ad! I found the original post and pointed it out to her - all measurements clearly listed.

Apparently someone with a Mondeo estate will be back this afternoon after 5 to collect it - I'm not holding my breath though!
