ive just moved area and instead of sorting before the move i thought i wait until i unpack and put stuff on ebay/preloved/freecycle as i find stuff.

i listed 2 items (nothing exciting cd tower and an airbed) on the 4 local freecycles (all within 20 min drive) and had 19 responses on one and 12 on the other and i went through the list and offered it to people out of the 31 people 3 changed there mind , 8 only wanted it if i delivered, 1 said he would take both if i paid his petrol money (asking £20 ) and of the 19 that was left 9 didnt reply and 10 people either never turned up or few mins before the agreed time they either asked me to deliver or ask me to change the date to either sometime next week and in once case the 28th of november or asked if they could collect at stupid times like 11pm or 4am

wasted a whole day waiting for people and sending emails to try sorting it out

And did they want what you offered them?

And did they want what you offered them?

No, because they were after wood and apparently have had ample offers- mine was only a small amount and I was quite prepared for a "sorry not worth petrol cost to collect" etc.

But it was a very nice reply and I also appreciate them getting back saying no thanks because that is quite rare!
  • We had someone who was asking for a Morisson's 15p off a litre of petrol voucher, as she "really needed to fill her car and was short of money"!
  • The Barcelona mods posted a similar message to the one Eager-Elephant quotes, regarding requests for large expensive items. Perhaps in response to the person who requested a moped or motorbike ...

Today´s little gem: "I am in desperate need of a dishwasher as mine has packed in and I´m running out of plates." So tempted to offer him one and then hand over a pair of rubber gloves and a bottle of washing-up liquid ...
  • I´m a bit worried about the person who´s requested a chainsaw
