 my word there have been some stinkers of late.

I have offered a desk and chair, and some tiles, had many of the usual 'I will take it' 'if it's available call me (mobile no)' etc. I'm not giving up yet, just posted offered for some kitchen bits that will suit a student.

Just noticed a wanted though: 'DS Lite for my son plz' - reposted as still looking. How about you do what the rest of us have to do for our kids: go without yourself so that you can save up you lazy sod.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

  • Have seen some rather over optimistic requests on ours too :rotfl:
I have been looking for a bigger aquarium for a while as some of my fish have forgotten to stop growing. One came up yesterday and I made my first ever request and got it :j
Never actually thought of asking for one though.

............wonders if anyone has a cabinet and an external filter they don't need :p

If I receive anything from Freecycle/Freegle I always take a small thank you gift with me - usually it is eggs mainly chicken but certain times of the year I also have duck and goose and people seem to really like it.

I know it is not expected but when it has saved me money from not buying the item I feel like I should give them something.

I have been pondering for ages about putting on a request for a computer monitor but not sure I should in case it ends up on here :rotfl:

Need to find some items to offer first.

I'm going to defend the requester, again, I'm afraid.
You can't buy the DS Lite any more.
In our situation, our eldest had a DS Lite from new and loved it. His best friend then got a DSi and our son was mildly miffed.
Then our second child wanted one. It would have been unfair on our son to get her a better one than he had. But we couldn't buy a new DS Lite as they didn't sell them any more.

Many people are wary of buying something like this second hand as you just don't know what may be up with it that the seller wouldn't mention because they want the best price.
With one that is being given away you can be fairly confident that it is as described as there is no reason for it not to be.

This woman wants it all and a bag to put it in! Not only is her expectation of a free garden shed rather far fetched, she'd also like to be given equipment from which she'll profit.

"Wanted: Garden Shed/Double Buggy and HighChair. Fexxxxx
Hi, I am setting up a childminding business and I would be very grateful if you have any of the following items in clean, useable condition: Double buggy and Highchair.
We are also looking for a Garden Shed!
We will collect ASAP, Many Thanks"

Wonder if she'll see the funny side when I post a 'wanted' for a free childminder when I return to work? :D

    Question for you guys...

What are the chances of someone on Freegle being able to fix a busted DVD player?

Ours has broken (was a little while ago and I can't remember the problem) so we need to get rid of it.
Ideally I would give it to someone who could fix it (whether they then sold it on or not would be up to them).
What I don't want to do is give it away to someone who will take it to a car boot sale and sell it as though it is working.
The middle option, obviously, is to take it to the dump the next time I go.

So, should I offer it on Freegle on the hope that someone can fix it? Or is it more likely to be sold on to an unsuspecting punter?

    Thanks,
    Jim

ok, so i've done this and I keep coming up with '
    There were no matching messages'

to double check I've done it with myself as i know i've posted messages and also with the names of some recent posts, as I know for certain they are there but I always get this message :S

Go to the group home page, click on messages, then use the search box next to the Message # search box.

Beware there is another search box on the page but for groups not messages.

This is how it works on my Freegle. I didn't get matches with full email address, but I did with the name before the @

So there are 3 search boxes on my page, have you got the right one?

I would say if you request "a computer monitor, even a CRT will be ok" you will be perfectly accepted.

It's the posts for "must be a 2 week old black flatscreen" that get :rotfl:

try replying with "I have a double buggy and highchair, unfortunatly I need to sell them as my childminder wants her money at the end of the month".

I actually (a few months back) responded to a request from a childminder who needed things. By saying "you do realise you can claim the VAT back as its a business" (I can't remember the exact wording but I know they can get money towards stuff). she was actually very grateful as she wasn't aware.

it does annoy me tho, we quite frequently get requests for toys/ equipemnt for childminders as if they were completly unaware they would need to budget for these in their fees....... and I thought they had to be ofsted checked now before they get their official certificate.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

    Careful what you tell people.
Caring for children isn't vatable, from what I remember.
Even if it was it is unlikely that a childminder will be above the threshold to pay VAT.
And as they are, in effect, b2c there is no benefit in them becoming VAT registered through choice.

The cost is deductable for income tax purposes, however.
