    keep yer wig on!!

PMSL couldn't have said it better myself!

Hermum did actually say she "assumed" she didn't say she knew for a fact they did. Not all moderators will be so conscientious that they will put everything through. I "assume" that SOME of them will keep "tat" as you so nicely put it, for themselves, as a perk of the "job" perhaps.

That "tat" is obviously useful to someone otherwise what would be the point of Freecycle/Freegle and whatever similar type site there is.

I'm guessing mttylad is a moderator himself, hence the angry retaliation, and whilst he MAY put everything through, sadly not every moderator will.

That is a really unfair and insulting assumption of the mods.

I can tell you that a moderator works extremely hard, its a heck of a lot of work that they volunteer for and they do not do it so they can get 1st dibs on some old tat.

Try looking harder, search for posts by the person that posted the taken, you might find that they did in fact offer it but months ago and forgot to post a taken but have been reminded or have had others ask for it. The offer posts may be somewhere in the system, search for that.

It may be that its in your spam folder or if on Yahoo it is famous for not sending messages out - some remain unsent for months but get sent to some members not others.

In fact it is very common for someone that gets something that has been offered to post a taken when it is not them that should post it - it is the person that offered it that should post a taken.

It may also be that they do not understand how the system works and post the taken thinking that make them the recipient.

Your slurs on moderators are not only insulting but very likely to be completely wrong.

Not in my spam folder, I always check that as some Freecycle messages go into spam.
I have looked hard, they aren't in the digest either.
As it's often items that are rarely offered I've searched by item, area, person offering & in the Freecycle bit itself, although I'm again assuming, in a slur type way no doubt, that items are deleted from there once the taken posts are sent.
If there is no offered post, I cannot find it no matter how or where I search.
Oops, assumption alert, I also assume that you personally know each & every moderator the length of the land & can vouch for them. If not, to get your knickers in such a twist on their behalf must be damned uncomfortable.
Loosen that elastic before it does you some permanent damage.

Funnily enough the tat items that first made me check the offered posts were a couple pieces of antique furniture.
Idle curiosity made me have a look to see if a photo had been uploaded of them. No offered posts were to be found.
Then my over active imagination got to thinking......

I am sure there are lots of lovely moderators who do it because they think it is worthwhile doing. I am also sure that there are those - albeit a minority - that take the !!!!. Not everyone wears a halo and do things because it is a good or right thing to do. Many people are purely motivated by the 'what's in it for me?' factor. I don't think there's any need to take such observations personally.

And there is no need to say that it is the moderators taking stuff just because you cannot find the original offer.

If you think that a moderator is doing so then dig up some taken posts that did not have an offer and send links to them to the list owner and ask where the offer posts for them are?

if your not happy with the response contact the organization itself, accusing the moderators of things like that in public makes the organization look bad, is a slur on all those who work hard volunteering their time for nothing. As you have not said which group then you accuse all moderators because it could be any of them.

I really wish people would consider how hard the people that volunteer to run their local groups actually work before publicly accusing them of wrongdoings that in fact will likely turn out to be something completely different like Yahoo doing its usual delays or not sending messages out - or myfreecycle where they get removed when paired.

But no - because you cannot find the original message, it just must be corrupt moderators.
(BTW - a lot of them are actually in the US).

Well well well, just been browsing my local eBay and found someone selling watches. What a coincidence that this person has the same name and location as someone who puts a Wanted Ad on regularly for watches and clocks and spares as its their 'hobby'. Well, their hobby is a nice little earner as they have been seemingly selling them! Nowhere in their wanted ads has it ever stated that they will repair them and sell them on!
They made over £100 on a box of spares 2 weeks ago. Nice little earner isn't it?
And for someone who repairs as a hobby he seems to sell broken watches as well!!

Have emailed the mods and linked to the seller.

I offered an item back in June, and asked for one. Someone contacted me and said 'I have what you want, we could do a swap' so I agreed.

Roll forward and we have had some contact, but she still has not said 'this is when I am collecting the item'. In the meantime someone else has offered me the item - it's 0-3 baby stuff, basics like vests etc. She says she has a babe in arms so that is why it has taken so long - fair enough.

I have offered something else. She has said she is interested. I don't think she realises who I am - ie that I am still waiting for her to collect the first item. And tbh we want this item gone asap as it is taking up room in the nursery.

I'm not sure what to do..shall I e mail her and say 'well actually I am still waiting for you to collect this', not bother responding, or what? I have seen that she has been given other items as she has posted received posts on the group, so I am concerned about whether it would be fair to offer to her again. And as we want this gone asap, I don't want to be waiting two months  what would you do? The item I offered previously was brand new part used, and I had others that would have liked it.

I would e-mail her about the first item and say you need the space, so if she isn't able to collect by [insert day of your choice], you'll have to offer it to someone else. That way you're being polite and giving her one last chance if she really has been too busy to collect, but you can also move on if she doesn't get her act together. And offer the second item to someone else.

I've been messed around by people who were supposed to collect lately, and my tolerance for it has gone down! The most recent guy who messed me around for 3 weeks and then stopped replying to my e-mails has since requested other (bigger ticket) items of mine - his requests have gone straight in the trash.
