Ive said it before, but I have to wonder how I ever left the street as a child, as these days Parents/Grandparents all seem to need the assistance of a Sat Nav to find Chester Zoo!
Have I missed the point where Road Atlas' were banned?0 -
have offered a folding table on my local freecycle and so far the two replies I have had consist of -
"Is this still available?" - and nothing else, no please or thank you or I can collect on xxxx....
and the second reply
"hi, do you have a table? if yes, please write me your adress. thanks." - which is only marginally more polite than the first reply except that she thought it would be a good idea to send me the same email three times.
The first one I have just ignored since they cannot be polite particularly, the second one I am not sure about and am more inclined to excuse the reply. She has posted recently on our local freecycle asking for "everything" for a house but she seems to not have a good grasp of english which is why I am debating whether to let her have the table or not!
Why do people not ask nicely for things!
Which one would you give it to??BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -

probably neither. You will find that the effort you have to go through to explain where you live is not worth it.
Stick it out the front with "free" attached to it0 -

As said, you will probably have difficulty eaplain address details and collection times.
A bit like ordering a takeaway or getting a minicab in London these days......

lol! no definitely not racism... I just can't decide whether the fact that she asked for "everything" before and not very politely is either a sign that she is greedy or that she doesn't know how to phrase things politely in requests!BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -
I can't believe some of the stories on this board - I think our Freecycle must be very well run (although the group is now not officially part of the Freecycle network so perhaps that's why). I've had several very nice people collect stuff from me, and have likewise collected from them. The only Wanted ad I placed was for bric-a-brac for our local church stall and I had two replies with some really nice items. Ours is a smallish group in quite a rural area so perhaps it's the towns that are being hit by the conmen?0

Ours has got worse since it left freecycle and became freegle. We have everything wanted like furnishing houses. A stud dog for a husky. People asking for Chickens and iphones (but must be the latest model). Someone wanted a sit on lawnmower the other day. It's ridiculous0
