Freecle / freecycle and balloons on sticks

The only Wanted post I've replied to was a girl after a Windows 98 disc + serial etc. Since I'd kept a brand new copy in my spares draw for almost a decade (just in case!) I decided to part ways with it.
After several messages from me chasing her she grudgingly agreed to collect it then didn't show up! Twice more I arranged time for collection and she didn't turn up.

I tried to rid of a working Sky box, I was going to ebay it but it was at the time when Sky were pulling all the auctions on ebay and i didn't want to risk it.
I had people begging me for it as soon as I posted the offer, choose a young mum who gave a really good story, she let me down twice then just stopped bothering to respond to my emails. I contacted the mods and they said they thought she was a car booter so I should offer it to another person, second person also failed to turn up as did the third. In the end I put it out on the drive with a note saying that due to people on freecycle not bothering to collect I just wanted it gone, so please help yourself, and it went to a dad walking his child to school.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Someone on ours requested a 'Litter Tray', must have wanted new because I offered her a used, but still good, hooded one which cost around £30 new. She needed one desperately, but obviously not desperate enough to not want mine, lol0

Well my email to a person with a desperate wanted ad is still answered, so as I've got the item out and tarted it up a bit i may just put it up as an offer now as it is taking up room in my dining room.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.:eek:
I'm obviously missing a trick here, maybe I should post on freecycle to ask for a house, or a couple of thousand pounds - both would be particuarly useful!
Wins : McCains garden games set, 2xTickets to Alton Towers, Links of London friendship bracelet, 2xIdeal Home Show tickets, McFly album CD, Virgin Balloon flight for 2 with a case of ScrumpyJack cider and 2 ltd edition jackets, Powerboat racing experience, £50 Virgin voucher, Aerobie Pro flying ring & Rice Krispie squares, Tesco baby pack :j0 -

Maybe you should offer them a road Atlas:D0 -
I spoke to the moderators on mine when I had real issues with people not colelcting. She said she was aware of professional traders who sign up with a false address and just ask for everything that gets listed, and then they go round in a van and collect and car boot it all. They tried to ban them but it is so easy to provide false details. I've certainly had things collected by traders as they can't remember what they are collecting when they arrive..
I`m sure that was what happened to several items I put out side the other week - remember seeing a white van shape thru the window then it was gone ( and when I looked so had ALL the stuff ! )
really not more than 2 mins later an unhappy chap turned up for hs ( now gone stuff ) ( actually Im not sure if he was in a van as well ! )
to top it off my son has just moved into a rented terraced with gf and asked if I had any outside tables / chairs spare - and I`d just given a wooden table and four chairs away - DOHHH! ) typical !!As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !0 -
Just had one on mine after a Tumble Dryer, reasonable request fair enough, but the fact you have a disabled child has very little to do with it. If there is one thing that drives me mad its playing that card.0
