A very unusual one on ours:

'We are a lesbian couple looking for the chance to become parents. We don't need a father figure or any financial help. Just sperm only. We don't want any time wasters'
Fair play I guess but keeping it out of land-fil?? ;)

    Cx

This was also on our group a while back. Spam methinks.

The only thing that really annoys me about freecycle (aside from endless wanteds, people who don't collect or get back to you) are people that say they want something, and leave a phone number.
I'm (potentially) giving you something, I'm not going to call you at my expense!

A lovely kind couple gave me and my partner one of these on Freecycle :-) They offered it though and picked us out of many replies. But goes to show.

Wow, Lucky you. I love those, I must admit that like everyone else years ago I did give my daughters away, rather large (The pram) to keep & before the days of ebay. They are a dream to push aren't they?

I do sometimes if I'm responding to something that I need give my landline number but always say if you would rather call me than email.
I often prefer to phone someone's landline rather than sitting emailing for half an hour, often I've got back & offered to someone & if they don't respond you're left waiting & can't re-offer. At least with a phone call, if they don't answer you can go on to the next person.

I must admit, I was surprised when my GF said she wanted it as it is dead old fashioned. But she likes unusual stuff. So we asked and as our baby was due 2 weeks later (at that time) they decided it would make a nice present. I think they just knew it would be used almost immediately.

Anyway, my GF says it's nice to push. All I know is that it's a pain in the backside to get in/out of the car! :-p

It often depends what it is. Stuff I see on freecycle probably isn't of much value to sell on eBay but is practically useful to someone locally. A really good example is this - we replied to an offer for a sponge bath support. It costs about £4 brand new, it was still in its wrapping and the person had never used it. They probably would have got a max of £2 on eBay and then had to post, pay fees, etc. It was easier to just give it away.

I've just given away a 21" CRT to someone who is hard up on freecycle ... and a bag of 30 odd kids VHS videos to a grandad for his grandkids to watch when they come over. It wasnt worth the hassle of trying to sell them.

Great just now on ours .....

Has anyone got a use for old tights? Perhaps to cut up for plant ties?

Please supply a name and say when you could collect from @@@@ (most times are OK for us).

........could be a money spinner on certain category's of Ebay - if I obtained a photo of them in usage ?! :j  :j
