You offer an item and you reply (in fact I offered an item) and have more at home so when request come in i replied to 2 x people. Saying yes that is fine when do you wish to pick up. Then you wait and wait and you get no reply (how long should you leave it before you give up waiting for a reply) This happens to me a lot and i wonder whether the person or persons actually want this item.
Bugs me no end too, I usually give 2-3 days, then send a 'snotty' email saying if I haven't heard within 24hrs then it is being offered elsewhere - Often don't get a reply to that either
I did offer something once, she never appeared, I fogot all about it and then weeks later her husband turned up unannounced asking for it - luckily I still had it, but was very taken aback by the whole situation0 -

TAKEN: 1 packet of incontinence pants (pack of 14) This has now been taken. Thank you to everyone who has shown an
interest.
I put a pack of incontinence pants through freecycle a couple of months ago - i'd bought them as heavy-duty sanitary towels for after childbirth, but never used them. Gave them on to a pregnant lady along with a box of baby clothes.
So perhaps not that unusual?Mortgage when started: £330,995

I've started a two-email system. I reply to my intended offer-ee with a reasonable description of where I am, asking them to suggest a time they could collect. When they reply, I'll give them my address. It means I get two e-mails from them (incl the original request) which I think shows they're pretty serious about the item, and I don't give out my address until we've agreed a collection time. I don't like the idea of giving out my address to people I'm not sure are coming.Mortgage when started: £330,995

well i offered the item to someone else as waited nearly 48 hours for reply and posted a taken post on website and today the original lady who requested it said she replied (no email received in inbox spam or junk or anywhere) do I believe her. Said she was waiting for a date and time to pick up !!!!

This isn't a commercial transaction - you're offering to give something away. Just say that you didn't receive her email so you've offered it to someone else. You don't have any obligation to her.0 -
How do you check someone's history on freecycle? I can only search open posts. I can't search for posts that have now been 'taken' or 'received'.
Also, searching for someone's username gives me no results (even tho they've got an open post atm).Mortgage when started: £330,995

It must be the way your group is set up. I can search the username and pull up their posting history.0 -
AFAIK if it's on the Freecycle site you cannot, if it is on Yahoo groups still you can search on the messages page if you now the persons username.
Freegle still use Yahoo groups so searching is easy, although it never used to be because the search was borked - fixed now.0 -

Ahh - I'm on the Freecycle site now, so that explains it.Mortgage when started: £330,995

Yahoo groups is big, it has its problems, it has its delays, its issues and ups and downs but no matter what its free, there are teams of engineers that fix things when it goes wrong and they are developing new features for it all the time.
ISTR that Freecycle.org is written/maintained by 1 person.
For me it was always slow and hard to use. A little faster now but I still don't like it.0
