I offered a large display unit among the various sources, including Gumtree.

Got one sob story (new flat, pregnant etc) and against my better judgement offered it to that woman, no reply, no surprise there really, offered it to the next person who seemed dead keen (also gumtree) who managed to produce a van and two men to move it within an hour :D

Can you tell summer is round the corner?

    These people drive me mad.

I think they should stop the 'wanted' adds.

Grrrr....who could possibly need a gazebo "urgently"? And why can't she heat up her kid's bottles using a kettle? Or in a saucepan on a hob? Mind you, I shouldn't speak too soon, she'll be posting for a new cooker and kettle next

I use my old cities freecycle as I don't know the area around here and my family live there still so visit a lot.

Me and OH only just moved in, so we don't have much to give away, and therefore I've never posted an OFFERED one, I think... I've been a member for age's so may have a while back.

I have posted a few WANTED but never got replies (not outrageous things, a bike only need it to be rideable, rollerblades, all stuff I'd seen advertised before but had gone) but have now given up on the wanted's. I'm just keeping my eye out for things popping up that I'd like.

I always send a polite email and am going to collect a nice glass table on Tuesday night as the first person they wanted didn't show up :)

Oh and I'd never sell on something I got from there either!

So don't tar all of us 'wanted' with the same brush, I'd do offered if I had something to offer :)

I agree, I have put a few Wanted on's - even one with a 'I know it is a long shot' One was for a highchair that went back on once I had finished with it and another (the long shot) for a school style desk - I needed a little one as that was all the space we had in dd's bedroom, I was actually offered one and I absolutely love it and it will be used for many years

I do put on many, many offers - gave 2 lots of stuff away this weekend, so not all people asking are just 'grabbers'

I don't have a problem with wanted ads - they usually remind me that I have things hanging around that I no longer use. This week I have given away a mobile phone, hairdrier and today someone posted that they were desperate for some books which made me have a sort out to find her some. I know libraries are free, but they don't suit everyone. Our local mobile library has gone, and it's really expensive to park in our town. I always feel really chuffed if I can help someone.

My daughter really wanted a replica football shirt for a small local team. They used to sell childrens sizes but hadn't for quite a few years. I tried ebay and charity shops and finally placed a wanted ad. I honestly didn't think i'd be lucky, but I had a reply straight away. My daughter was over the moon!
