    Even for the people who can afford to buy the sofa they want but choose to use these groups for their purpose (keeping things out of landfill) first rather than going straight to the shops?

    I'm not sure how many people who can afford to buy the sofa they would really like would first try Freecycle.

    Then what's the explanation for the people who request, say, a certain type of sofa?

    Is that look because he's 16? These things happen. Good for him for sticking by her, though - many at that age don't.
    And the pregnancy explains the need for a toilet tent!
    :eek::eek:
    I think I'd need to forward that on to someone. If that is real then I think this person needs professional support.
    Do you have a health visitor you could give the details to, pulliptears? Or someone at your local children's centre, etc?

    And once again someone spectacularly misses the tongue in cheek point of this thread....

    Some of these are funny!

    Although some people do like a good moan don't they! I really don't see the problem with some of these cases....asking for a jumparoo? Whats the problem? Loads of people have unwanted baby toys hanging around and can't sell them, or can't be bothered to sell them. Bagless hoover? Whats wrong with asking for a bagless hoover?? What if you get offered a hoover and can't buy the bags anywhere? Thats not cheeky, that's just common sense. No point in getting a hoover if you can't get the bags.

    The wanted section is really important IMO, otherwise loads of people might have dumped stuff they thought no-one would want, and didn't think to list it.

    The british do love a good moan though, especially at people who are asking for free stuff.

    In a way I do agree with you, but sadly there are a few people who abuse the system and the generosity of others. My local board has no limit on the number of wanteds someone can post so the board is just clogged up by wanteds and often by the same people - we have a seriel asker, who no word of a lie has posted well over 20 wants in the space of a fortnight, others will post things such as 'Wanted Gas Cooker, Must deliver' and that's it

    I am less 'against' the wanteds or indeed often what they are asking for, but a little bit of common courtesy goes a long way imo. I have replied to wanteds, cos I have thought 'oh yes I have that in my loft sitting unused' but would never have thought of sorting it out to put on
