i am looking for various items for my pre-school setting, we would appreciate old door handles, locks, pipes, shower tray, metal detector and cam corders. many thanks in advance if you have any of these.

What kind of pre-school are they running? Or maybe "setting" is the keyword for something else.... The mind boggles. I find that request quite disturbing really.

Very weird. I'm sure there's a TV programme just asking to be made about these curious requests! It would be interesting to see some of them followed up - why people request what they do, why are people disposing of the items, what use are they put to, how much gets used by the new owner, how much is sold on, etc.

Sounds like bits for various science projects. They have them in preschool nowadays! I have used plastic pipes for velocity (rolling toy cars and marbles down them, not waving them about!) the metal detector could be for learning about metal vs other substances, handles and locks for 'knowledge and understanding of the world' etc. Yes, ex preschool manager here :rotfl: The cam corders I'm less sure about, since any kind of images of children taken by ppl other than their parents is a minefield. Wouldn't have done that 6 years ago when I last practised, let alone now.

    Ahhh, science! Of course lol.
It was the camcorder bit that creeped me out, and the shower tray

Pipes and a shower tray might be for building a water play table? Something like this http://www.earlyyearsresources.co.uk/acatalog/S-AT837-838.jpg

It's when I see unspecified requests like that that I start idly thinking about what unwanted items I have...after sorting through a chest of draw(er)s I now have to offer; a Phil Collins cassette, a pile of freshly sharpened pencils, a few curtain hooks and quite a number of half used tealights.

Freshly Sharpened Pencils you say!? Sell them on Etsy!

Have been looking for one of these around but no luck, anyone got one they no longer need? Heartbroken I made my 3yo walk too much yesterday and fell asleep in nursery as soon as he got there. I have to send the husband for it so as local as possible would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading.

I know summers going but I would like:

    a parasol and a chimera

    thanks for reading

    Eeeek, I pity the neighbours....

    Amano_Chimera.jpg

The Chimera was, according to Greek mythology, a monstrous fire-breathing female creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of multiple animals: upon the body of a lioness with a tail that ended in a snake's head, the head of a goat arose on her back at the center of her spine.

I've used Freecycle a few times when having big clear outs in the house and gave away beds, computers and wardrobes amongst many other kitchen appliances and I must say, most of the people are so ungrateful! Some of them don't even say thank you or don't even seem pleased with it. If you're getting something for free the least you can show is some gratitude!
In future i'll just give it away to charity, last time I'll try to help people out.
