I don't get this thread really? Surely you can't blame people for trying can you? Ain't that what MSE is really all about?
If anyone objects, they won't respond and the 'asker' will fail. Nothing lost by anyone.0 -
I really need and i-pod and either a home computer or a laptop as my kids birthdays are coming upI am on a new training project, which unfortunately uses Apple computer apps and phone apps. And I don't have any Mac products.
If you have an iPhone 4 and don't want it anymore, I would be a very grateful recipient.I am preparing for a training project, and the software runs on a Mac app for iPad. I don't have any computer at all and the iPad is out of my budget range.
If you have an iPad you are disappointed with, don't want anymore, or which is damage and I may be able to repair - I would be delighted to be recipient of it.Im about to enter my thirtd year of a BA degree course and i desperatly need a mac as my old pc had popped its cloggs. However i cant afford to buy a new one as im on just my student loan!
If anyone has one they dont need i would be happy to take it off thier hands.I would like to receive magazine about home decorating e.g. Ideal Home etc.0 -

When these silly posts begin to clutter the group's message board, genuine freecyclers start to desert the group. It is easy to say, "If they don't ask, they don't get!" but they are ruining the community spirit these little groups build.0 -
That surprises me. I find it very easy to simply ignore them.0

The irony of a post like this is that you fall foul of the very thing you are disuading others.
..and please don't shout, it's rude.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
If you are a genuine freecycler, you'd be fed up with the people who only register to post ridiculous 'wants', or make posts that have nothing to do with freecycling.

It's the same people week in-week out posting utterly riduculous wants (and the moderation on ours seems to have vanished so you're getting the same want on a daily basis) that do my head in. Often they reuse the same sob story and just change the item required. It means the good, genuine requests get lost in the ether and it means people get sooooo sick of the ridiculous requests for iPads, PS3s, leather sofa (must be cream and a moderns tyle) that they leave the group, and quit the offers for things that genuinely could get a little bit extra life for someone starting out their first home or whatever (sofas that are fine with a throw over to match your decor or whatever).
Yeah you get the odd specific thing - I think someone was after the grass collection box from a certain type of flymo on ours recently and asked on the offchance that anyone had this mower that had died and he could grab the box before it went to the tip.... but there are people on our group (and most by the sounds of it) who think that they can come on with really quite rude and grasping begging lists of their child's entire Christmas list, or an entire Ikea catalogue of furniture and people will not only provide it all, but will run a flipping delivery service without even a please or a thank you.
I think lots of us who hang around on the groups now do so in a spirit of seeing just how far it's going to go to be honest - I've given some pretty decent stuff away in the past - but people have got SO rude, these days I'm more inclined to leave it to the tender mercies of the tip staff than have to deal with it - the greed and the ebayers, the serial wanters and the "I'll have it alls" are killing the entire movement.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I posted an offered yesterday, so far have had 2 responses, the first yes I'm interested, phone me on ..., the 2nd, I want it send me photos so I can see it. Not a please or thank you between them.
Unfortunately landfill seems almost preferable than giving to people like that.0 -
I really need and i-pod and either a home computer or a laptop as my
kids birthdays are coming up and i would really like to get them the
things they need the most.
She's persistent Ill give her that, but if that's what her kids need the most she's in serious trouble.0 -
Birthdays are tricky little things aren't they, it's such a shame they don't come just once a year as then there would be time to save up for all the things your kids need most.0
