Hiya guys be nice this is my 1st post
I got this tv thursday and after lastnight ( watched Robbie Williams live at Roundhay park ) must say am very impressed ans so was the other 6 adults and 3 kids that was here.
I work nights so I got to Aldi's at 7.30am and given a ticket told I could come back and pick up my tv anytime ( sod that I was back at 9am ) they must of been 20 folk outside being told all the tv's had gone there was nearlly a riot.
Anyway the tv its self if you do get one make sure your frontroom is big enough to acomadate it, I put mine on the wall ( big mitake ) it stuckout abit a foot from the wall and looked daft and after messing all day run out of time to move itFriday it was back on the stand and looks miles better
Did get chance to view the tv untill saturday when the football was on and the pic is fantastic but my god the sound is crapHooked up my surround sytem to it and all sorted now, the concert was a good test for this tv and it passed with flying coluors.
Before this tv I had a Sony Trinitron Wega Screen (32" tube) so am used to a good tv and this one as beat that ( its now in my bedroom
Any questions fire away :T0 -
I too was lucky enough to grab one of these.
I totally agree with the last poster, the picture is fantastic. Watching dvds through my 360 is stunning, and playing Oblivion on the 360 is breathtaking!
Sound is indeed "crap", but only on SKY, dvds and games it seems fine. Will def have to get speakers for it though.0 -
Does that mean good picture but below average poor sound?
If that's the case and you have to hook up some external sound system to compensate for it, it could mean that for a lot of people that don't already have that option it turns out to have an excessively high unavoidable hidden cost.
I'll be pleased if people turn out happy with buying this TV, but have to say that before I fork out hundreds on something, i'm the kind of person that likes to cross reference as many reviews as possible before I commit myself. Consequently, I haven't ended up with things like a Sinclair C5 or Betamax VCR.
Having said that, I did buy a Tevion video sender from Aldi, which was also on one of their limited time special offers and have to say that it's the worst electrical product that i've ever bought. At about £20 it's a lesson I can live with though, but with hindsight I would rather have given the money charity.0 -

Perhaps not the best analogy.
I only wish I could have bought more of them given that even used ones are worth 2 or 3 times more than their original RRP, and many of them eventually sold for a fraction of this.
Original and unused ones still in boxes are worth 1000's of pounds !

The Sinclair C5 was developed at the time to be a practical mode of transport and not for the sole purpose of being a highly desirable collectors item or museum piece 20+ years later simply due to it's failure and laughability value at the time.0 -
I have had this running for the last two nights Im no expert but the picture seems good, you can change various options and the sound has various modes. The PIP is great can watch the two t.v / freeview programmes at once, both clear pictures. Can increase the PIP size from small to half screen.
Size is much bigger than I thought 40 inch always look about right in the shop but its big at home!!!!!
Setting up was easy it did it its self. no problem. DVD play really good as the above poster states .
For the money its a good buy, Fault
just maybe slight blurring to vision on background when in full screen mode(I may not have it set to perfection )
Overall dont want to swop it wonder what the wall mounting plate would fetch on EBay?my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0 -
Agree with earlier posts, I've decided against using the wall hanger as it just looks odd in my room. Though its a larger screen size than my previous TV, its very much thinner, and only a bit wider, so takes up about the same size stand.
I watched Star Wars on it on Thurs night with the kids and there is absolutley no comparision with my old panasonic 29" surround sound. The picture was very good and the sound was good (there are settings for cineam, sports, concert) but not outstanding. We watched Lord of the Rings on Friday and I noticed the black looked a liitle grey by changing the brilliance & contrast settings things got much better.
Whilst I haven't got another Plasma or LCD in my house to compare it to, I think its fantastic value for money and a real step up from my previous home cinema TV. Whether I think that in another 3 months only time will tell. At the moment, I'm very happy with it.
Looking at ebay, the wall mounts seem to be going for around £60, so that might be another bonus. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings
DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE!0 -
Dont really think they'll compete but then I dont know enough about LCD TVS, but just picked up my Makro mail and they have the following offers:-
Bush 32" HD ready LCD - £399.99 + Vat
TWF 42" HD ready LCD4201, 2 x HDMI, twin scarts - £999.99 + Vat (Includes free stand worth £129.99)
Goodmans 37" HD ready LCD - GTVL37W9HD - £649.99 + Vat (£100 saving)
They other various LCD offers including Plasmas also, not to mention half price sale on some of their other items, toys etc, could be worth a look.0 -
These LCD's are £849 but you'd be lucky to find one. The seemed to have all sold out on the first day. Don't mix it up for the 42" plasma. Judging from people's comments so far, it seems reasonably good value. The lack of deep blacks is common at the cheaper end but not a killer problem.
I've a couple of questions for owners. In action scenes, football or fast panning shots, does the screen show lots of artefacts? ie. Does the picture become a bit 'blocky'? Also if you watch something like Blue Planet, do you get colour banding? ie, you can see grades of the same colour in bands across the screen?0 -
I watched the Formula One yesterday and in was great no blocky bits or anything like that it was perfect and before you ask no am not saying it just because i got one0
