I have used a few other MSE forums and often find there are 'Experts' who will check figures etc. to give a second opinion before you go ahead and change e.g. mortgages, bank accounts, etc.
I am wondering if the same is true for energy as I would like to have my calculations 2nd checked before going ahead.
Is that the case on this forum before I go and type a long winded post??
thanks in advance
speedy
Hi Speedy,
I am sure someone will. There are lots of threads about energy saving, problems with Suppliers or technical problems.
Give it a try, nothing to lose.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
hi,
new to this thread and hoping someone can help!
we have BG supplying our gas and npower for electricity. recently BG uuped our monthly DirectDebit from £25 to £76 based on our usage last year(we only moved into this house 6 months ago...) we pay £30 monthly to npower by DirectDebit
decided the time is right to switch...
energyhelpline and moneysupermarket give southern electric and scottish power as our top choice. have decided scottish power based on past good experience.
my Q is: shouls I go thru moneysupermarket and get £30 cashback + £25 M&S vouchers (online energy saver 4) or is it more reliable to go via quidco where scottish power are offering £61 cashback for dual fuel?
have never used cashback sites before...0 -
Hi,
I've followed the advice in your change suppliers article, and found NPower to be the best. Again, following the advice it suggested looking at the site directly. Now NPower says if you get dual fuel from them and stay for 12 months you get an £80 discount. It seems pretty definitive in the way it's worded on their website, but it's not mentioned explicitly in their T&Cs.
So my question is, if I do this through a comparison site (Money Supermarket in this case) will I get BOTH my £30 cashback AND my £80 discount (albeit I have to wait 12 months for that).
I intend to call their customer services on Monday, but I thought I'd ask on this forum to see if anyone knows.

Worth checking. However, when Npower set their duel fuel discounts up they just awarded you yearly cashbacks on an anniversary date based on your having both fuels. Also, make sure you monitor this as they have to add markers to your accounts. So if you find you don't get your discount, it could be that and they can easily resolve it.
Hence when they set them up, the yaerly cashback was only based on having both fuels.
Worth checking if you need to be a DD customer to get the ful discount though as they used to have a tiered cashback and only DD customers could get the most out of it.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi.
Via my new friends at quidco, I'm getting £60 cashback for switching my electricity and gas to British Gas. :T
I'm not sure how long I have to leave it with them, but as soon as I can switch again, there's a tempting £60 cashback for switching to Scottish Power too! :j
Does anyone know how long you're obliged or contracted to stay with your new supplier?
Cheers all

Generally 28 days but you need to check if you have signed a minimum term contract.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

I have also done switch through Quidco. I was with British Gas for Gas and EDF for electercity. I moved house 2 months back and my electercity bill came as "ONWER OCCUPIER". I have a question: Do I need to inform EDF that I am swtching to British Gas?0 -
I used the Moneysupermarket site to switch from PowerGen to Scottish Power successfully in March. Then after a couple emails in May to chase up the cash back, they paid me in late June after my second switch using them (successfully in June). In August I contacted them for the cash back and they replied that it will be paid in October:
>Thank you for your E-mail,
>The cash back will be paid to you on the 6th October
>2007. Please allow three to five working days from this
>date for the cash back to be paid.
October went and the cash back wasn't there.
So I chased it up and 'the same person' replied:
>Please be advised that as stated in our terms and
>conditions you are only eligible for one cash back
>payment. As you have already been paid
>for your first switch then you are not entitled to any
>further cash back from moneysupermarket.com.
In T&C, it says 'one per household' rather than 'only once per household'.
Beware: Moneysupermarket will only pay you once for switching, no seconds.0 -

Hi,
Whenever you switch Suppliers you only ever contact the Supplier you are switching to to request to change to them. They will then take care of the registration and you just need to provide a change of supply reading. This will then be sent to your old Suppleir who will generate a closing bill.
Remember your old Supplier is the one sending the Occupier bills. You are liable to pay those up to the closing read that has been agreed with BGas.
Make sure you take readings for when you move in and for the date Bgas give you for the transfer. Try to never let a Supplier use estimates as they can cause problems later.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
