bookworm - You start with do I need it and can I afford it, then how do I get it cheaper? ;):D With a smaller house you will need to be more strict on carp acquisitions. ;)

But, of course, another Martin devotee is always desireable. DFW is such a fantastic mentality.

Hmmm I'm not a "justification" convert yet and tbh I dont think I ever will be! lol For example, I just bought myself a bottle of perfume.....did I need it? No (but as you know I do like a selection to hand)....Could I afford it? Yes.......Could I get it cheaper? It was half price.....and two out of three wins in my book! :rotfl::rotfl:

Oh and a bit less of the carp if you please...... I am much more discerning these days and prefer fewer items of higher quality...however your DF is still addicted to his so-called bargains and cheap "carp"!!! When I eventually get home, I aim to be fighting fit and any random carp your DF acquires in my absence will be taking a one-way trip to the tip! ;)

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.

That may have been your experience.

It has been. It has also been other people's experience too. Some people get much less out of school than others. But school is mandatory.
In any case that is not what you said first, as I understood you made it sound as if teachers only like a certain type of child and the end result was not important.

The end result is far less important than the "journey" taken to get there. A child who waltzes in, spends the lesson looking out of the window, and then dumps the right answers on the desk at the end of the lesson is far less favoured than a child who interacts, and then spends time "working hard" to produce something not as good.

Except when exam season comes around. Then suddenly the world changes, and changes completely. Then goes back when the season ends.

Sorry I've not been on all day.

Went to Ikea, then I signed my tenancy agreement and spent the rest of the day moving into my new place! Finally all sorted and grabbed a burger for my dinner....also did an early weigh in...lost another 4lb but I'm sure it's stress. Let me sort the flat in the morning and I'll take pictures :)

Obviously we have to agree to disagree.

I find you view of my profession quite patronising and narrow, I don't teach like that at all and neither do many of my comtemporaries.

It may surprise you find we are meant to challenge the students, the aim is not finish the work, the aim is learn something - all students should feel challenged and engaged. That is what I aim to to do. And of course it may not always work but I seriously doubt there are pupils who sit in my room staring out the window and then magically produce the right answers.

All pupils are prepared for their exams, we do not simply worship "A*"grade students, I grant you other schools may be different, but I teach in a comprehensive and do care passionately about all my students.
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Budget your space. Assign a monetary "rent" to an object's "footprint". If a dolly with a toilet roll shoved where the sun don't shine costs £20 p.a. in rent, do you really want it... ;)

ZTD I can assure you a dolly with a toilet roll wouldn't even get squatter's rights in my house!!! :p:rotfl:

Am just working out what the "rent" is on my OH's "Footprint"......;);):rotfl::rotfl:
