Don't know if any is still reading this thread but I got my Direct Debit refunded under the DD Guarrantee clause. Thank you Nationwide.pink_princess wrote: »Well done, I got mine back the same way through Barclays
Hi, just wondered if either of you could tell me how you went about this? Thanks0 -
Just got a new phone and have to admit didn't read all the details but saw reference to these guys at the point of sale, thought I would check them out and see what they do.
Used the number quoted by jturner30 (0844 499 4744)
Went straight through to a customer service rep and was on the phone for 1 minute and 1 second and cancelled the DD.
The guys aren't scammers, people just need to read what is provided at point of sale!!0 -
I am furious - I have just found that they have been taking £20.94 out of my bank account since 2012.
I did not want this cover, need it, ask for it or use it.
They owe me £125.94
I rang and complained and they told me they had 'sent an email' - I told them, I could send a thousand emails but that doesn't mean that they are received.
They told me they would refund the last two payments as a 'gesture of goodwill' - I told them I want every penny paid to them as I had not agreed to take this cover nor want it.
They told me Dialaphone - which is no longer in business had a clause where ANYONE who wanted a phone through them was signed up to it or they didn't get the phone.
To me this is fraudulent and unless pointed out to you and verified that you accept it will fall into the same category of PPI - where they are having to refund millions of people for cover they didn't want, need or ask for.
I am off to the bank to see about the Direct Debit Guarantee this afternoon .. so will let you know what I find out.
Due to the infrequency of them taking the money - every 6 months it isn't easy to spot on your outgoings.
I wonder just how many more people have been scammed like this and are having money regularly taken from their accounts that they aren't aware of .. nice little earner for them I must say!0 -

Hello, I have just joined (for this topic). I have had my latest bank statement showing that £20.94 had been taken out of my bank account for this company. This bank account I use is only for direct debit's and I know exactly how much goes in and out each month, not this month though and on top of the £20.94 I was charged an extra £30.00 from my bank for an unarranged overdraft (I only put the money in this account for DD's). I have read (on here) all about this TMTITECHCOVER and would like to say that I never signed up for it (I read it all), I got my 24 month contract with Vodafone, the contract ended November last year (never a payment for this service, as said I have Never signed up to anything else) I kept my phone (still paying my £21.00 a month) so why now have I got this charge? Any help please as to getting my money back, and stopping any of this from happening again.
Many thanks.0 -
When looking through my wife's bank statements this weekend, I noticed these guys had taken a payment from her account last month. I asked her what it was and she didn't know. I looked back to find they have been charging her this since 2010! Needless to say, a very strongly worded email was sent to them asking for a full refund. they wrote back saying it was from a company called "Vanilla Mobile" and offered the last 2 payments back as a good will gesture, but that's not good enough, so I've sent them another email asking for the full amount back or else I'll take them to court.
I've read this full thread and it seems like a lot of other people have been ripped off by this scum of a company. I don't want to hear any more about how people should have checked the contracts properly and cancelled etc... the point is that this sort of service shouldn't be "mandatory" and should be purely optional. Companies should not be allowed to add things to your order unless you specifically ask for it. In my mind, this falls under the same category as the PPI thing, i.e. a service was added to your account when it's not wanted, needed or even relevant.
I've cancelled the Direct Debit at the bank and TMTI have confirmed the account is cancelled too. I would contact the bank and ask for a full refund of all payments since 2010, but I think taking them to the small claims court would hit them much harder and make them rethink their business practices (or more likely they'll carry on as normal, but I can try!)Aiming to pay off £50,312.94 in less than 3 years - Starting from December 2015
Current debt total: £32,756.02 (as of 1st March 2018)
Date Free Date Aim: Summer 2019 (8 extra months needed)

Take them to court and you'd lose.0

I know they say buyer beware but I do feel ripped off by the TMTITECHCOVER that I had apparently taken out. I don't even know what phone contract it relates to ( I have three from my account for me and kids!) iIt was only by luck when I was changing bank accounts that I realised £23.94 had been taken out of my account. It was obviously hidden deep in the small print when I took out a phone contract. Shoddy practice.0
