  • I too have the same problem I have not had the handset for years been taking the money out since 2009 been taking 17.99 I phoned the bank just said best thing u can do is phone them, so they give me the number, the number is no longer in use great help I know I wont get my money back but no longer get any more money out of me I will never go back to mobie.co.uk
  • Maybe you should check your bank statements once in a blue moon. It ain't just Mobiles that uses tmti etc. Reading what you agree to and monitoring your outgoings works wonders and is far more effective than avoiding companies which have done exactly what they said at the time.

There is such a thing as a direct debit guarantee. You can go to your bank tell them to cancel the DD, refuse any more from that company (important to do this as they can put it through again with a different ref no) and reverse the DD payment. Your bank wont care why you want to do this and wont ask for any evidence or checks.
  • A bit late going back five years! In any case, since it isn't an incorrect payment they could end up with a legal debt which could wreck their credit file for the next 6 years or more. Since (it seems) they didn;t miss the money it would be a huge price to pay to get it back even if they could.
  • Good luck with that. They haven't done anything (technically or legally) wrong.

I didn't need luck, my bank refunded every penny.

Why do you feel the need to keep commenting? Do you have shares perchance?

  • Hardly. I recently issued a LBA to part of CPW and where appropriate I have advised lots of people on here over the years to do the same thing.

On the other hand, I have little sympathy for people who fail to check their bank statements for a month that alone several YEARS and who then complain about a contractual commitment they made because they didn't bother to read the commitment they made at the time. Perhaps my comments will trigger some other people to avoid ending up in your situation in the first place. Meanwhile, you should check this isn't going to result in debt collectors and a wrecked credit history for at least the next 6 years; or you could just wait until to you find, of course.

Not this arm of them though! And I note via your previous posts that you are against most mobile companies and their affiliates and offer great advice until this company is mentioned, then it is the alleged customers fault.

The "Commitment" doesn't show on your screen in a lot of cases though and are you suggesting it is alright for people to be ripped off if they don't notice?
As for the rest of your post I can't make out what you are trying to say.

  • That's because as far as the Gadget Helpline is concerned there's an endless stream of people coming on here because THEY failed to READ what is clearly stated when they ordered and then failed to notice until the end of time that they were being charged for something they "knew nothing about".

I've had scores of contracts (all over the internet) and ordered scores for many other people - and neither I nor they have ever had a problem because I not only READ what I am ordering but print it out at the point of sale and (when it's for other people) brief them to cancel this straight away.

We all make mistakes, but blaming the other party is an abdication of personal responsibility. It isn't rocket science and you don't need a degree to read a short one-page order confirmation which clearly states that this is included as part of the deal. Those who don't like it have the option to abandon their order or to cancel it soon after. Or you could pay a lot more for a contract without the bother and avoid the dealers - though there's also a long line of people appearing on here who agree to enter into contracts based on cold calls from organisations mispresenting the deal and even who they actually are. Another thing they could avoid, as is giving children expensive smartphones and complaining because they run up huge bills for excess use.

As for the last part, just because the bank refunded the money doesn't mean that you won't be left with a legal debt (another common problem people complain about long after the event).
  • I've just had my charges refunded!!

TMTI is a 3rd party to mobiles.co.uk and I was never informed either in writing or verbally that they would pass my bank details onto TMTI to take the payment. They acknowledged indeed that this was correct, I should have been informed in writing but haven't been. I should have also been informed verbally which would have been nice! They are dealing with TMTI to cancel the policy and have agreed if they won't refund me then mobiles.co.uk will. After a very dismissive staff member told me all calls are recorded and I should ask for a copy of the sales call, I eventually got through to someone with an ounce of nouse!!
  • They did the same to me and took £23 from my account and I've just cancelled my account with them and my DD. However I just think this is out of order, as they wouldn't give me my money back because now it's over 30 days but I never agreed paying that in the first place... I would like to report them so other people don't fall in this trap!!! Does anyone know how?
