I spoke to a gas fire rep today, who came in for his usual vist.
According to him, he has heard Homefiresides went bust again approx 10 days ago !
This is the third time guys.
Just a thought, any good Hackers anyone know?
Not saying do it, ( as it is Illegal ! lol) But wouldn't it be lovely to put on his website something he cannot remove which says '' KEEP AWAY FROM THIS WEBSITE IT IS A SCAM SITE ''
I know we couldn't do it as we are all upstanding pillars of the community :A0 -
I have just e mailed the TV prog called ROGUE traders about this John Hughes character.

I recently purchased a fire from homefiresides/firesgalore (25th august).
I have been done too, no fire and £262 out of pocket. Dimplex fire if dimplex read this thread!
consumer direct not much help. I have phone emailed, posted letters to homefiresides/firesgalore but no reply (suprise!). Do not deal with this conman.
Hoping the bank can help us.
They are now using worldplay to take payments as opposed to sagepay. I hate to think of the amount of people in the same boat.
Why are OFT/police not closing this site down?
Hopefully get my money back.
Wondering what to do with the whole in my wall at the moment. :-)0 -
I have emailed the OFT numerous times to get this scam taken offline and everyone else should. They obviously couldn't give a !!!! about people being ripped off.
It is still possible for people to buy off the site for heavens sake. What a joke.0 -
yep, got done too by these crooks...
Been to bank, no help as paid by telex transfer from overseas direct to his account as his website would not take my Credit Card.
Phoned Consumer Direct, no help.
Phoned OFT, no help.

The only way this critter( being polite !) is going to be shut down is by trading standards or the like stopping him
Manufacturers have no way of stopping him either advertising their products or actually buying them from somewhere.
Most manufacturers sell their products through what is known as the distribution network. This means that they sell them in large quantities to specific companies who then deal with the fireplace trade alongside boilers, radiators etc. A lot of them work cash on delivery. If one stops dealing with him, he will just go to another.
I know that one manufacturer tried to commence legal proceedings against him, but was told they didn't have a leg to stand on, as it would be construed as restrictive trade practices. EU law is causing a lot of these charlitans to spring up and manufacturers cannot do a thing about them. If they try copyright law, they unbox things and then photograph them, so there is no copyright involved.
Manufacturers are in a no win situation, as their livelyhood is from retailers displaying their products and then you buying from them, but they are stopping doing this because they are losing out sales to the internet, who work on such low margins that they couldnt run a showroom making the same margin. A lot of fire internet traders are making as little as £10 on a fire after deductions and quite a few of them are not VAT registered as they split the companies up into diffferent names so they all go under the VAT threshold. They may be giving you a good deal, but they are not helping out the country by paying their taxes.0 -
Hi, I am also a victim of homefiresides/firesgalore - paid £215 for a gas fire and then saw this thread - doh..
Just been doing some digging - John Hughes has had other companies before firesgalore:
http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/910189287
if you go onto a listing for 'pontefract firesides' the website you are directed to is firesgalore:
http://www.hotfrog.co.uk/Companies/Pontefract-Firesides
This guy seems like the biggest crook going. Why is he not in prison already???
Has anyone had a response from anyone as to what action is being taken against this guy/company?0 -
can this be merged with this thread?:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3496725
seems a lot of people are affected by this - makes sense for everyone to pool info on one thread.0
