Hi All I'm new to this forum but had to join after reading the many posts. I am the Marketing Manager at Charlton & Jenrick Ltd and we manufacture Paragon & Matchless gas fires.
We only sell our fires through authorised dealers who have showrooms, display our product and offer surveys and installation of the fires. Unfortunately without our consent some of our products appear on Fires Galore/Homes Fireside. We have and are in the process of exploring all options to try and get them removed.
Although they advertise our products they are not a customer of ours and we refuse to deal with them. We get calls from end customers asking what the hold up is with our fires (as Firegalore say they are waiting on the manufacturer) and all we can do is inform them that the fires have never been ordered because we won't deal with them.
As Rustyboy points out earlier in the thread all fires are tracked by serial numbers and when a fire is registered for warranty we know who has bought the fire. This enables us to close accounts with any off our customers who may be supplying them.
This may come as no consolation but are Paragon & Matchless brands are only available through our authorised dealers and not via the net, local dealers in your area can be found by ringing our head office on 01952 200 444. I am also aware of many other manufacturers who refuse to deal with them.
I would like to finish by saying gas fires are a technical product and need a survey before buying so that you get the correct fire that will fit and work in your house. All fires must also be installed by a Gas Safe registerd gas engineer.

I've just noticed this topic has got lively again!
I just can't believe that Fires Galore / Home Firesides took peoples money last year with no intention to supply goods and then re-open using the same website name only to do it again 12 months later. Surely if this was a showroom in the high street, Trading Standards or the Police would shut it down straight away? How can Fires Galore continue to trade after what they've done?
Is there anything Google or the company they use to take payments by credit cards can do? This is fraud and should be stopped or they will just keep re-opening.
This is one for Watch Dog!0 -
Forgot to say the there are plenty of other forums out there where people are complaining about Fires Galore.
Hopefully people will get the message before buying and won't lose their hard earned money!0 -
Paid £470 for a fireplace at firesgalore.co.uk
in June 2011 still not able to contact the company and of course no fireplace and I now see they have changed their name to Home Firesides. I am trying to recover my money through my credit card company. I wish I'd read this forum before I parted with my hard earned money. So buyers beware0 -
They got me too for 430 GBP, B*******!
Unfortunately the lovely Corrine had advised me to pay by online banking as my CC is registerred overseas and was not accepted by their online system.
Sadly for me I appear to have no consumer protection and no fire!!!
I intend to make life very difficult for these crooks and I've only just got started. Whose with me???

As long as people frequent these charlitans websites, they will exist.
Just to let you know about Firesgalore.co.uk
They do not deal direct with any of the following manufacturers...
Flavel
Robinson willey
Dimplex
Valor
Baxi
These are all bought via distributors to the retail trade. I know for a fact that they cannot buy them from the No1 distributor, as they took them for a lot of money last time.
The following Manufacturers have a strict non internet policy, so him having products online from them, means that he cannot get them anyway. He is taking your money knowing he cannot get the products.
They are
Wonderfire
Verine
Paragon
Vermont
Douvre
Gazco
Faber
Dru
If you know what is good for you, please do not give him any business and go and see your local fireplace showroom, but don't ask for a price match, as they cannot do it, with the overheads involved with running a showroom and giving an exceptional service. Something has to give when you advertise so cheap, as you are all finding out to your costs.0 -
WARNING:
The cowboy behind this outfit is a certain JOHN HUGHES.
In recent days he has renamed the company homefiresides and if you go to that website it redirects you to firesgalore.
An utter cowboy of the highest order.
He doesn't even have the balls to put any address on his website which is illegal.
I have reported him to trading standards and the OFT who are looking into the rogue.0
