My cat has gone missing

And I'm devastated and don't know what to do.
She's an indoor cat, but she escaped yesterday around 6pm while I was having a new kitchen floor fitted and I haven't seen her since.
I've been awake all night with the window opened in the hope that she comes back, but she hasn't yet.:(
I haven't told my son she's missing yet, as he stayed with my sister last night. I'm dreading having to tell him.
I've been reading online that some cats come back after weeks, but she's not very streetwise at all, is only two and a very small cat. She's run away in the past, but never for more than a few hours:(
Does anyone have any tips on how to try and find her?
Thanks.

Early days, no point in me saying "dont worry" of course you will!
The chances a very good for her reappearance. I assume you have been out and about, called, rattled the biscuits etc?
Also on a similar thread here someones cat escaped ( indoor cat) and they eventually turned up after they had taken someones advice to empty the contents of the Hoover bag outside near the house where the cat could smell"home".
Worth a try. Do keep us posted and I have my fingers crossed for you.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

I hope that she turns up Ok. I am sure she won't be far. She may just be a little lost if she is not used to being outside. Try asking neighgbours to check their garages and sheds if you haven't already as she may have got in and become locked in.
Our cat went missing for five weeks (ok he IS an outdoor cat) and eventually turned up having been visiting a neighbour a street away and she had adopted him because he had lost his collar and she didn't know he was owned. She no longer feeds him but he goes there everyday as he loves her garden, cheeky moneky he is.
Big hugs x3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Thanks for the replies.
Yes I've been out shaking the biscuits and shouting on her with no joy.
I'll try emptying the hoover outside and I've already put the cat litter tray outside in the hope that'll attract her.
I'll be sure to keep you updated. Thanks again.0 -
hiya
fingers crossed your naughty one come shome soon.
My cat mia went missing, she is also not very streetwise, and was found 4 weeks later {exact month and day from when she went missing}..very hungry etc...is yours chipped?, that is how ours was found.
xCan't think of anything funny to put here!

This might sound disgusting, but when we adopted our cat from Blue Cross, they advised us to scatter her used litter in the garden before letting her out. Cats identify their home by their scent, and nothing screams more than their own litter. Give this a try if it's possible.

I hope she turns up soon, and I'm sure sh will. We too have indoor cats, and they have 'escaped' on more than one occasion. The longest they stayed away was 24 hours, and once they were hungry, they were soon scratching at the door for dinner. Definitely ask neighbours to check around, show them a picture of her if you have one.
Thanks lilham, for the cat litter scattering tip. Our indoor cats are about to be 'done' so that they can have the freedom of outside! Yay they cry! I have been concerned about them not coming back, so will be doing this for sure!"Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Thinking of you and you have received some lovely advice from some lovely people.
Hugs to youXX0 -
I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope you get her back.
Is she chipped, and if so have you made sure your contact details are current? We found a chipped stray but the owner had moved from the address.
If she isn't chipped call all the vets, the local sanctuaries and your local Cats Protection. Put some posters up locally and a notice in the local paper. Get friends to spread the news on Facebook and Twitter. Getting the info on as many websites as possible is good, we found another stray (we're a magnet for them!) that had wandered 2 miles away for 3 months so local posters wouldn't have helped.
Please post the details and location on here so someone may be able to help spread the word locally.
Keeping fingers crossed.0
