Well i called up to get this offer today but wasnt told it wasnt available - it would only be saving us £18 over the summer months anyway as we pay £9.50 for our sport. Anyways since we have full package incl multiroom, HD, and broadband package the man said he could offer us free line rental for......12 months!!!! Saving us £200 per year on what we pay BT so needless to say i organised it right away. Very, Very happy that i called them up!!!!0

I'm a sky subscriber of 12 years. Have been paying £48 for movies and sports.
I don't have a sky+ box.
I tried phoning up for one, but they would only offer it to me for £149 including installation. I tried every trick in the book. I said I didn't have an HD tv so I wasn't interested in getting a free HD box and paying £10 a month for HD tv I wouldn't benefit from. They put me through to a supervisor who just clarified everything the guy had said.
I told them I thought Virgin was cheaper and it seemed like a better deal and that I thought I should cancel my subs with them if they couldn't offer me something better....they but me through to cancellations.
After 10 minute wait on the phone I was put through to a Scottish guy who was very happy to let me cancel...so I had to hang up (strategically)! I pressed one of the buttons on the phone while telling him my address, then stopped and he wondered what happened. So I continued for a bit and did the same thing and then hung up.
Disgruntled to say the least! I'm paying loads and not nearly getting the same service as about 80% as the customers out there0 -
I phoned up today and reduced my sports package to do the £ 3 a month for next 3 months, I do this every year. just been a bit slow doing it this year by a few weeks.
I just phoned up said I wanted to remove a package from my account got put through to a scottish lady and then I said I would like to cancel sports as football had finished and she waited until the end and then said would i be interested in the offer of £3 a month I said of course why not.
if its a offer and its on their system I would just ring up and ask for it.0 -

Just called SKY and asked what they advise as i,m not watching the sports channels much during the summer....so they offered me free MUTV,ESPN and £3 sports for 3 months and free HD for 6 months,a saving of £150...NICE.0

I phoned up Sky on behalf of my mum as she likes football but that is all she watches on the sports channels so now the season is over she is paying for something she isn't really getting any benefit from. They offered me nothing and just said it would be 31 days to cancel the sports.
She pays £41 a month now and ideally I would like to get her a Sky+ too but they said that would be £60 with free installation. Should I just keep trying as people on here seem to have got much better deals. She is not under contract either.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Have been a sky customer for 6 years, and i just rang sky to cancel the sports package.
I pay £41pm (£23+£18 sport), which during the summer really isnt worth it, as its the footy im most interested in.
To be honest i had thought about cancelling the sports some time ago, but just never got round to it....so this was a bit of an experiment to see how much they valued my custom.
Excuses i gave were :
- Footy season is over
- Was interested in their current HD offer (free HD box, self installation, £10pm HD subs, new 12m contract), but couldnt afford the HD sub, so would drop the expensive sports package.
Result ??
They offered me nothing, and proceeded with the sports cancellation.
I am a bit annoyed that my loyalty counted for nothing, esp when they seem to have handed out spectacularly good deals to some other people, but cest la vie....it will make me feel good when i ring them up in couple of weeks time to cancel the whole lot, with my new freesat HD box installed, and a monthly bill of £00 -

When i called to cancel Sports i got nothing as well so im not really sure why they are picking people to give the offers to and why cant they offer it to everyone?
it seems very unfair to do it the way they are doing it.0 -

Vote with your feet my friend.... ££ money ££ is the only language they understand.
A Freesat HD box may cost a little to buy (more with a PVR included), but you'll soon recoup the money with the £0.00 monthly charge :beer:0
