Hi all, have had a bit of a gripe with sky for a few months with regards to their broadband, kept saying we were going over our limit even though our surfing habits have not changed. They upgraded our package to EVERYDAY at £5/month then informed us they were scrapping the package in September so options are either £0/month for base or £7.50/month for unlimited. Had been looking to change provider to send them a message that I wouldn't just sit there and take the changes. Went on QUIDCO and found PLUSNET offering broadband and phone for £17.74 a month with braodband free for 4 months and £62 cashback through QUIDCO. That equates to a £42 saving over 12 months before SKY'S broadband increase. Rang Sky today (TUESDAY, see MSE thread on the best day to call Sky to get a deal, ie TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY), straight away was offered half price SKY WORLD package for 6 months because I have been with them for 7 years, a saving of £145.50 and then a free 500GB SKY+ HD box on self installation which arrives Saturday.
I am a happy bunny to say the least! Go get 'em guys!0 -
Well, I intended to cancel sports for now anyway, so I phoned up and...okay, i'll take those off for you. No offers, no nothing.
May have been tempted with an offer of £3 a month for 3 months or something, but nothing more, but it didn't matter as the guy didn't offer me a thing.
Also didn't know about the 31 day cancellation until I read it here or I would have cancelled in April!
Been with Sky for 11 years, so it's not down to lack of loyalty.0 -
Just called up to cancel and got the same as miroslav no offers just told that my bill will reduce but 9.50 a month when the channels will come off and that if i want the channels back i can call up at the start of the season again0

I phoned up this morning to cancel my Sky Sports package, currently costing £18/mth...They asked if it was because of the football finishingI said yes...They then said that they have an offer running at moment which would allow me to keep sports package till Aug for £3/mth...I accepted this....Think it depends who you get through to think they have call centre in Scotland...who I spoke to.... and one in India who just action everything you ask without telling you whats on offer0

I rang up on Monday night to cancel - not because of footie - hubby just not watching it. They kept asking if it was because of footie, I kept saying no. In the end she said 'look - please cancel because of football, then I can give you a good deal to stay' :rotfl:We have now got the £3 for till end August - great as far cheaper than the months notice I would have had to give. Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
I also asked them for 6 months free pr0n channels but they wouldn't have it0

Hi
I just rang and got £15.00 off for three months and get to keep ESPN, they also were quite helpful saying that if I want to cancel any channels give a months notice on the 26th July so when my discount runs out I have already served the notice period so subscription be reduced further without penalty
very happy

My son said he wanted to cancel Sports and ESPN because he mainly watches football - they offered him nothing.
I said the same thing and got free ESPN and 6 months with 20% off.
Seems to depend on who you get.0 -
Called Virgin spoke to a really friendly guy.
I said about sports and he mentioned I would lose my discount of £23 to £14 and when I added them back on at the start of the football season I would be £9 worse off and would ruin any potential savings. so I got nothing but it was worth a tryI was hoping for the £3 a month deal but due to my tie ins I would could out worse off in august when the footie is back on.
