I called sky this week to remove Sports after a friend had theirs reduced.

I thought it was a risk as we did really want to keep them - the guy at Sky sounded like he was processing it all but then said you know we could reduce this by x% and you only pay £2-3 a month if you'd like.

This saves us £15 a month for 4 months.

I'm not sure the 30 days notice applied to us as he said we'd gain £60 from it starting from now but that might be because of when our Direct Debit comes out that it worked in our favour.

We also have one of the other basic mixes for just £2 a month as well - never watched much but it's a very cheap deal.

I phoned two weeks ago to cancel multiroom and they gave me free HD for the next 9 months if I kept it! My HD still has 6 months to run on contract anyhow so I get multiroom for free basicly. Every now and then I add or remove channels and you more or less always get deals when you ring to cancel.

Just called SKY to remove my Sports and Movies.

They have downgraded the account, although they said I must give 30 days  I'm certain that I didn't used to have to give 30 days notice upon a change.

They didn't offer me any discounts, but at least I am saving a bit between now and then.

Just phoned up to cancel Sky Sports and got asked if reason for cancelling was the end of the football season which I said it was. Got offered reduced rate of £3 per month for 3 months so I took it. 5 minute phone call, saving £45 and still got Sky sports.
  • Just called Sky & told them wanted to cancel Sports as "I wasn't really watching it & getting my money's worth". They advised me that it would reduce my monthly bill by £18.

Then got asked if "reason for cancelling was the end of the footy season" - I said yes & then got offered the same thing as dbmabz in the post above - ie reduced rate of £3 per month for 3 months.

£45 saving over 3 months & keep Sports - YAY!!

I've downgraded before and its always been instantaneous before, have they changed their T&Cs? Have I somehow agreed with this?

Just spoke to a very friendly Scotsman at SKY and managed to keep hold of SKY Sports through the summer months but will only have to pay £3 per month for 3 months for the privilege instead of the usual £18 per month.

Couldn't manage to get anything off the SKY Talk or Broadband though. :(
