Have just paid off and closed a MBNA card and paid off but not closed an Egg card. Also have a Barclaycard that I want to transfer the balance from.
How interesting - i'm in the same boat almost exactly existing-card-wise. I also have paid off an Egg and need to pay off an MBNA and a Barclaycard like you, and will do so once I get another card. I also have an open Amazon which will get closed in the next couple of days.
I called them after hearing nothing (see above post) and they told me that the application had not gone through (what an awful website!). Applied again, got 5 days thing, then the waste of paper, as you say, saying "we don't want your business"
I also applied for a Tesco card last month and got only £1,700 limit. This makes me think there's somehting dodgy on my credit report. I have used this as a spend and switch for now on some big purchases, as it charges a fee on bal transfers, but 0% on purchases.
Realised the problem might be the amount of available credit thing (total £26,600 - no I don't have it all in useand went to close my egg as I only use it month to month anyway and should really stop that.
They persuaded me to keep it if they'll balance transfer my outstanding balances to them at 5.6% for life of bal, and they'd hike the credit limit to £11,000 (stuff yer £1,700, Tesco lads!!)
So as I can't seem to get any more 0% and it seems my credit rating is shot, and the balances are real debt (not stooze) I thought I'd take it, close all the other cards and lie low for a bit. 5.6% has got to be better than 18-ish% for a few months at least!
Of course, the failiure to get a post office card means no rediculous amount of cashback through QuidCo... Gutted.... Might have to get an easymobile SIM......0 -

Just wondering whether Quidco tracked your cashback in the meantime before you got the thanks but no thanks letter? Did it then get declined?
It's been 3(?) days since I applied -wonder if I hear something tomorrow?0 -
We had trouble applying on-line too but then applied via the PC at work (!) and had no problems. Paperwork and card came through quickly and balance transfer was processed quickly. However, I have received two identical statements within the last few days so something is awry(sp?) with their admin processes!0

Well, a letter arried this morning saying they had nearly decided and I had to send proof of ID and proof of address and they would contact me with a decision. Has anyone got this far and been rejected or should I be fairly hopeful?0

from my experience if you get that far you have passed the credit score they just need to check your ID.0

No sign of anything at all in quidco - just as if I never applied...... :rolleyes:0 -
I have just been turned down for this card, I have no idea why as I would assume I have a very good credit rating. Is it worth checking my credit score?0

All the more reason, IMO, to check your credit file a.s.a.p.
Your application has been declined. You need to find out why.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

Does anyone know how long the Post Office are going to have this offer available. I am going to be looking for a 0% deal around November.0
