Does your Brother know what a low opinion you have of care workers. I bet your a real credit to him.
In Education perhaps, although thats only half the life story believe me and the Jury is still out on how successful you'll be as a human being. Given how many people you've endeared to you on this thread, with your insulting comments towards those who care for the elderly and their own disabled children, I wouldn't bank on winning an OBE or replacing Jimmy Saville anytime soon.
I'm more close with my lovely sister.
Such is life.

He failed school. Lucky for me and my sister we did very well.
It may be he is the 'lucky' one as I suspect he will get more job satisfaction and appreciation from his patients albeit with less financial reward.
He will probably be a better person than his siblings!0 -

Not so. He did drugs in his past. He now has a wife and 1 kid aged 1 years old.
He is the black sheep of the family and as far as im concerned he is not my brother.
I'm sticking with my sister and parents. That's it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I lost my Job just before Xmas. Not a good thing to happen I'll tell you. For the type of job i wanted there was nothing!! advertised until mid January!!
I did all the websites and paper things. Applied for loads - and believe me I ticked a lot of boxes!!
I even got through several interviews to 2nd stage but nothing!
I have now got an offer of a job starting next week. A good job doing something that I want.
Nobody can say its easy to get a job. It just depends on what you are prepared to do! and how long you can last!!
Good luck to al those still looking - keep trying, don't lose the faith, keep applying. I applied for this job 3 times!!0 -

I haven't read the thread but as soon as I saw the title I felt uneasy.
People seem to have so much fun goading others on the forum and this is yet another 'let's take the mick out of the unemployed' thread.
Whilst the OP must be pleased he got another job so fast, the self-congratulatory thread was posted so others can carry on hitting the unemployed with a stick.
As far as I am concerned it's shameful and all a bit tasteless.
We should all remember 'there but for the grace of God, go I'Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
What certain people on this thread have forgotten is that for them to enjoy life, there has to be people there to provide that service, whatever it maybe, and those people are fellow human beings as well and not some lower life forms.
They would also be better off learning the old saying - "there for the grace of God" - as none of us knows what is around the corner......one minute we could be a high flying executive, the next a down and out.
Of course the converse is true - one minute struggling to pay the bills, the next a lottery winner. I wonder how many people would change their opinion of family members if that happened???
To be honest I found signing on a depressing event - not becuase I thought it below me but because I was made to feel worhtless by the very people who, alledgely, was there to help me find a job.2014 Target;

Well said, but did the OP really just start applying on Thursday, have several interviews on Friday and is due to start work on Monday? The way it is phrased implies that everything has happened in the space of a few days.
However, I doubt it there are many companies that would accept an application on Thursday and arrange for the applicant to have an interview the next day. What about the correct people having time to read the applications, short list, contact applicants and give enough notice for them to attend an interview?
I am a voluntary trustee and director of a registered charity and part of my role includes personnel issues. When we advertise a vacancy, we have a closing date. Following this date, all applications are sifted through by the personnel group. We then shortlist and contact the chosen applicants to invite them for interview. All of this takes time, and I am sure that many companies work in a similar way. Of course, references need to be taken up as well - making the process longer.
Even when an applicant is successful, few companies expect their new employee to start immediately after the weekend, as it is possible that notice has to be given to their current employer.
I could possibly believe one interview and gaining a job in this manner, but not several interviews only one day after starting looking.0 -

I've also got a job now! (Since posting on this thread earlier on today.) Had an interview this morning at Debenhams and got offered the job this evening. It's only a sales advisor position. And only part time. But it's a job, it's money and it's interacting with real people! I'm quite excited0
