i've cooked beef brisket n slow cooker before, came out really nice. the longer it cooks the better.
i echo what others have said , ask ur butcher. my local butcher seems to really enjoy telling u about more unusal less popular cuts because it not often asked about. he gets so enthusiastic. it great.0 -
A pork shank is great. Yoyu often here about "cheap" cuts of meat and they often aren't cheap anymore as people know about them. Pork shank still seems to under the radar so to speak. £1.80 from morrissons will provide enough meat for 3 decent eaters. IMO pork belly is too fatty for SC.And if, you know, your history...0

Hi funkyfish,
As others have said above your butcher will be able to help but in the meantime, this thread has lots of advice on buying cheaper cuts of meat suitable for the slow cooker:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Thats really interesting..... I do loads of different meats in my slow cooker and a friend told me not to do gammon as it goes a bit rubbery?
I may just try it then with a can of coke?! Thanks0 -
We've done it quite a few times, you might want to add more water if the can of coke isn't enough to cover it. The coke gives it a bit more flavour.
It really is very tender cooked that way.
Have a browse through this list.......
