This is an excellent idea :)

    I will:
    - Take packed lunches to work
    - Have a maximum of one takeaway a week
    - Start selling things on ebay again
    - Keep a spending diary for every day
    - Stick to the snowball plan I have made
    - Start making things to sell from the fabric I have
    - Walk whenever possible
    - Start using my Wii Fit at least 4 times a week for 1/2 hr a time
    - Consolidate my many penny jars and find out how much I have :D

    I will not:
    - Buy anymore fabric!
    - Spend more than my allowance of £25 a week

    Thanks for the welcome :)

I've made a few messenger bags. Started out as one for myself, and one as a birthday present for my step-daughter, but since people have seen them, I'm now up to at least 11 orders! Lol... got a fair bit of stitching to do :)

Thinking of charging friends and family about £5, which should cover some towards the cost of the fabric at least, but they've all suggested putting them up on ebay too, but would have to charge more for that. Got to make a profit somewhere! :D

    Oh cool D3!

Check out the website Folksy too. It's for selling hand made things.

I've tried but didn't have much luck!

    Hi guys,

I am struggling with this, I am trying hard not to spend, but keep thinking of things I want to buy!! Its doing my head in, sold a couple more items on ebay which total nearly £25 and had a cheque for expenses for £70. when these clear I will round to £100 and knock of credit card.... I plan to get debt down to £4500 by the 9th August (I'm doing debt vs 100days!)....that means paying off £800 between now and then, which means watching my spending. Am planning on doing a carboot in a couple of weeks time and am sorting out things out to sell on ebay, although I don't feel I have a lot. Any other ideas...I don't go out much during week, but do with my bf at weekends because we only see each other then, I will be moving in with him in summer so over £100 a month train costs will be cut :) ohhhhh this seems like such a long trek, wish I had never gotten myself into this trouble!

    Oh hi Big Beff

Sorry to hear you are finding it so hard. Long distance relationships are so tough on the pocket and the heart aren't they? Really hard not to get sucked into making up for lost time at the weekend, and hard not to comfort buy whilst you are apart.

When I was coping woth long distance, I found quite a few websites with creative ideas for keeping things alive cheaply.

Also how about splitting the costs by meeting up halfway and camping whilst the weather is good?

    Good luck Beff.

Remember it is not forever and you will feel so good when you are debt free!

Thanks Ashamed of...what websites did you find? I have now got a job close to my bf starting Sept (I teach) so I will be moving in with him during the summer (probably Aug). I am trying my hardest to get my debt down as much as possible in that time :) My new job will pay more than my current job as it is on the fringe of London (means I get a little bit extra) although that will go on my cost of travel to work!! And I go up a pay increment, they also said there will probably be extra responsibilities in the first half term or so, so all a bonus!! Its just a bit tough at the moment! But I will muddle through, and I will be extremely thrifty when I am not with him! Will be renting out my house, which will pay mortgage and be sharing rent....hmmm sounds like I should be rich!! Will hopefully mean I can pay off debt quicker!!

    Excellent idea!!

    My pledges are:
    1. Drive economically (who wants to drive faster than 60mph anyway?)
    2. Go food shopping late at night to get the best deals
    3. No more starbucks (sob!!!)
    4. Never buy lunch out
    5. snowball my debts and get out of the minimum payment cycle
    6. keep on top of my budget
    7. Keep calm when thinking about debt

    I will never:
    1. put something on credit...if I can't buy it on debit or cash, I can't afford it!
Saved me typing, word for word I was about to write the exact same thing (with the exception of number 2) and change 3) to Pret :) )
